  1. Did you GOOGLE "1956 BUICK CENTURY INTERIOR PHOTO'S" ? I wish you well, Dale in Indy
  2. But the 38 dash is FLAT, the 39 is so round, and smooth. I WILL ALLOW YOU TO LIKE, WHAT YOU LIKE, hehehe. Dale in Indy
  3. I always thought the dash was so ART DECO. I love the color of the dash tooooooooo. Nice car, FOR SURE. Dale in Indy
  4. Thank You guys. Where do I pick up the oil from the engine that goes to the filter, and where does it return? Dale in Indy
  5. Is this an EXTRA, or did you install a different, more efficient under dash unit? Dale in Indy
  6. The fellow I purchased my 46 Road Master from was kind enough to send to me the external Fram oil filter kit that had been purchased but not installed on the engine. It is a Fram F4-18BW main body and the decal says use C4 or C4P filter. I haven't explored the install method, so if anyone has directions, I am open to learning. The main case has a fitting on the side, and one in the bottom. I would guess the oil goes in the side, and out the bottom???? Thanks, Dale in Indy
  7. There are two sets on Ebay right now. BUICK 1939 TRUNK LENS. Dale in Indy
  8. My father was SOOOOOOOO GOOD at adjusting the rockers. He always did it while the engine was RUNNING. He used the special tool, and I can still picture him standing there doing such. That was in the late 40's, and early 50's. while living in Bloomington, Il. along route 66. The speed limit signs along route 66 said, "REASONABLE and PROPER". As a late teenager I had many top end races on a long straight stretch from Bloomington to Shirley, IL. The GOOD OLE DAYS..... Dale in Indy
  9. I am a strong believer in X CROSS braces, from the back of one door jamb across to the other door jamb. Such aids in TWISTING, and every shop I have been in does such when working on verts. IMO. I just tack welded my braces in place, but enough to hold. I would also weld where the cross meets. Dale in Indy
  10. He does sell a ton of stuff, he isn't alone in what most of us call HIGH PRICES. There is a Buick guy that advertises on Ebay a lot, and his prices are very high too, but it just takes ONE buyer to really WANT/NEED the item, then it's SOLD. l bought a 1942 front Buick bumper lic plate cross bar on Ebay for $20.00, he has two for sale, over $200.00 each, and no takers for months. There is a fellow that for months if not a couple years advertised a 41 Buick grill center piece, it's in DRIVER condition, he says it is a very rare part, it ISN'T. often three or four are listed, but he is just waiting on that one buyer. Oh, well, each to his own. Dale in Indy
  11. Thank You, I will check.............. Dale in Indy
  12. I have to laugh, I was sorting pic's the other night, these were all taken during the build in the mid 90's, and #3 picture shows a very CRUDE JACK SET UP UNDER THE LEFT FRONT A-ARM ASSEMBLY. I thought to myself, DID I DO SOMETHING THAT STUPID..., then it hit me, looking closer you will see that the frame assembly is STILL mounted to the rotisserie stand, and the CRUDE jack set up was just to keep the rolling chassis from moving. I have done some stupid things in my life, but not that..... This windshield install is giving me FITS.....what a poor design Buick came up with, who ever thought the windshield should be put in from INSIDE THE CAR????, now that is stupid, LOL. Dale in Indy
  13. TAIL LIGHTS, SO WHEN YOU HIT THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE RED LIGHT HAS A CENTER OF BLUE. I believe at one time some states outlawed them. Dale in Indy P.S. You had to drill a hole in the tail light lens, then insert the BLUE LIGHT.
  14. Good for you....Rocky I just picked up a 46 four-door Road Master, so feel free to holler with me also. dlsmith1@comcast.net. Dale in Indy
  15. "He tells me he is good, slow and expensive. I agreed" Did he show you the TIDY SHOP? LOL. It is looking good. Dale in Indy .
  16. Dad was a Buick dealership general manager, worked his way up from grease man, well one day he handed me a MINI DYNAFLOW piece. It was basically a miniature converter, as I recall it as approx. 6-8 inches in diameter, was made of SEE-THRU plastic, with COLORED fluid inside. It had as I recall a small crank on one side and a round disc or ball on the other side. You would crank it and FEEL THE TORQUE/PULL. I have looked for years to find one at a swap meet, but never have. You could see the vanes inside too. Do any of you have one, or recall seeing such? Dale in Indy
  17. You may be able to add weights ONLY to the back side since the rims aren't that wide, but I have BEEN THERE, DONE THAT, and sometimes you just can't get a vibration free wheel with only the back side weights. Did you give TIRE RACK a call? I'm not sure they could help, but worth a call IMO. I wish you well, Dale in Indy
  18. Blazer, MAYBE some pickup's used it too. As I recall I didn't have to cut out/off any of the original dash, but welded my new formed piece to it. Oh, before I did the welding, I have purchased a main dash piece on Ebay for $10.00, so since the main dash is a bolt in at the cowl, well I can always go back in time. Dale
  19. The main dash platform is the original piece. I purchased a mid 90's GM dash piece, and fabricated a base for it to snap into. I have a STRETCHER/SHRINKER floor tool that allowed the bending of the new base. It was somewhat major fabrication, but when you really want to do something, well, you find a way. At least that's how I approach things. I am no better than the next guy/girl, just enjoy making things. The instruments are Dakota Digital. The long strip contains GAS, TACH, VOLTS, WATER TEMP, OIL PRESSURE, SPEEDOMETER, TRIP, and MILEAGE. A separate gauge shows tranny gear selection. The instrument panel screws to the new GM frame/trim surround. I have it all apart and throwing out my radio, I would rather talk to my bride of 51 years. Dark blue Ultra leather is now part of the panel. In the next few days I will be posting pictures of the frame build, and the engine compartment. My NEW forum friend (shorttimer) has been so kind as to post for me. Dale in Indy
  20. IMO it is a 1941 Buick, I base my opinion on the appearance that it doesn't have exposed running boards. 1941 was the first year Buick covered the running boards with exterior sheet metal, IMO. Have a great year, Dale in Indy
  21. Hello, I am in the beginning process of an art piece involving the 1946 Buick, and would love to have a scale model. I haven't spent a lot of time looking, but I have done some looking and so far haven't found a 46 piece. Do any of you know of the existence of a 46 model? I am interested in a model approx. 8" inches or longer. Not interest in a 1/43 scale piece. I could live with a 47 or 48, but REALLY want a 46. Thanks for hearing me out, Dale in Indy
  22. The front seat color is more to the true color than what my camera shows in the last picture of the rear seat. Thanks shorttimer for your efforts, your the ONE.......... Dale in Indy
  23. I have heard of those that were able to use the old wires in the headliner as FISHING line and PULL new wires up through the windshield post, and back to trunk area. Not having done that I don't know if it is really possible. My father in his retirement years was very successful in selling Buick's downtown Austin. He went by the name of Smitty. That would have been in the 80's, & early 90's. Dale in Indy
  24. So when you are finished, will ALL wires be NEW? Wires to rear such as tail lights, will they be under the carpet/mat? Were there originally wires in the headliner area? Having fun, FUN IS GOOD, HUH? Dale in Indy
  25. I have sent interior pictures to shorttimer and when he has the time, I'm sure he will post. I have a friend tjat owns a AIR PLANE INTERIOR shop, and she purchased the Ultra Leather for me. It has fire protection too, well MAYBE.......I'm sure it would burn. I will keep you posted on the sweep spear too. Happy New Year, Dale in Indy
