  1. Hi I have just finished repairing the dash gauge from my 2249 Surprise Surprise the pot metal innards of my gauge is sound with NO sign of crumbling YET The main problem was that I never had the Spindle that the Needle attaches to but once I got one there was still the pointer needle to get After not having any luck in finding a gauge with a pointer needle (I did buy one off E bay but the needle vanished funny that) So to solve the problem of the pointer I ratted an old Amp meter and used the pointer from it It is a very fiddly job as the pointer is sandwiched between 2 tiny brass collars on the spindle and once these are disturbed they don't seem to want to stay tight and hold the pointer in the correct position (only 1 collar was removed from the spindle) So to solve this problem once I got it set up a small dob of super glue solved the problem I havn't tested it as yet as the tank unit is still not quite finished I hope tat this has been helpful to those wondering what to do for a pointer needle Cheers and Happy Restoring Ron
  2. Hi Ken Sorry to hear that your car has had a bit of a hick up (Dodges don't break down They just fail to proceed ) Kerry and I would have loved to have been there too but we went to Detroit and Blew The Budget and we needed a new car as well when we got back The Mitsi Magna had clocked up 434000 ks and was well past its UBD So unfortunately we cannot simply afford to be there. Please say a big HELLO to everyone from us and we wish you good luck for the remainder of the rally Ron
  3. What a great story You are lucky to have been able to track down one of her previous owners When I purchased my Senior 6 30 odd years ago the farmer gave me the name of the old fella that he purchased the farm from several years before I found out about the DB Senior The Old Gentleman (he was 92) when I rang him and told him of my buy from the new owner of his old farm, his comment was "You have got a bonzer (Good) car there sonny and then proceeded to tell me all about it It took the family 2 1/2 weeks to travel aprox 1600 miles from South Australia to West Aust They had to carry enough gasoline to make it from Ceduna in SA to Norseman in WA a distance of about 750 miles He said that apart from punctures and a blow out the Senior performed faultlessly and the car was 24 years old at the time However once it had served its time as the Family car she was hacked about and put to use as a farm mobile welding plant Unfortuneatly the old man passed away not long after and I never did receive the photos that he was going to send me However I was so greatful to have had the chat on the phone to him Ron

Thanks Dave The generator on 2249 fell apart internally There is a pot metal bearing retainer on the driven end and this fell apart No damage was done to the other internals I had only removed it to refurbish the paint and when I tried to turn the armature it was seized Upon dissmanlling I found the problem I then Dismantled the other 3 that I have and they have all been assembled slightly different I just need a Drawing as a guide so I can reassemble mine correctly My generator was restored 30 years ago but the motor has only done about 50 hrs running uin that time Ron
