  1. I saw this car in the "Period Photo Thread" and was curious as to where the photo was taken, so I did a little research. It was taken in front of the "Soldiers and Sailors" monument, Washington Square, Rochester New York, some time after 1912. The picture below is of the same location today. The South Park Garage, 941 Genesee Street, was in business in 1912 as an auto repair shop with a detached garage. In 1938-1941 is became a gas station, and then as a dry cleaners from 1947-2003. The buildings were knocked down in 2009, and as of today is an empty lot with chemical contamination (brownfield), slated to be cleaned up and the property re-used for a new purpose....
  2. Wow, that's very interesting! So the gigantic factory in the pictures in your blog did exist? Or was that a lie too? With the history of the cars and their low production, one of those cars today must be worth a million...
  3. So if that's the chauffer driving, then where would the owner of this expensive automobile typically sit?
  4. Maybe some of the 6 finished cars are still in/near Omaha. With 6 made, I doubt they've gotten too far from the main office...
  5. Wow, I didn't know people knew so much about these engines! It's not mine but it is for sale if anyone's interested. I just saw it on a website and was curious as to what it was because the seller had it listed as something entirely different..
  6. Do you know how many exist today?
  7. If it was my car I would have build an insulated wooden roof and walls on top of it to keep the heat in during the winter...
  8. So might the car be in Illinois or Sweden??
  9. That's probably the junk man hauling it away....
  10. Wow! That's very interesting!! Is there a collectors niche for these?? I couldn't see them being too popular at car shows!!
  11. Hmm, it does look like that too. This is the engine of a 1948 Morgan......
  12. Hmm, now that you say it, it does look VERY similar to a 1948 Triumph 2000 Roadster engine (see picture attached)...
  13. Those are the only pictures I have; was told is was a 1950's 6 cylinder corvette engine, but not sure about that...Now that I look at it, it looks like there are only four wires on the distributor cap....
  14. I can't figure out what this engine and transmission goes to, in the picture is also an intake manifold with two carbs....
  15. Good luck Marv, I give it about 23 years before you stumble upon one of those for sale..
  16. It's all about money.... Rest in peace Grandpa
  17. Oh wow, thanks a lot for the info guys! If anyone is local to Sullivan County New York and might be interested in grabbing it, I may be able to coordinate the sale/ pickup. It's in the back woods of a property that was just listed for sale, so no doubt, the New York City buyer (most buyers in this area are from Nyc, due to it's proximity to the city) will have it removed and crushed without a second thought. I'd prefer someone to grab it and either fix it up or use it for parts to keep another truck alive...
  18. It's in the woods in upstate New York, still has the engine in it. I was just wondering if anyone knew what it was. Thanks!
  19. If anyone's interested, its in a Colorado junkyard. It's all complete and looks to be in very nice condition. It does, however, look run down because of sitting so long. Parts are not available from this car, it is being sold as a complete, whole car. Here is a photo...
