  1. thanks dennis im going to follow up on the story to see if the car was ever restored dave
  2. hello barry i think what your seeing is a stitch weld, used to holt the panels together ,then brass or celica bronze to close the seam,on the older cars this was used then primed an blocked sanded, till perfect, then they found they could smear some lead over it an it didnt have to be quite so good, later on they just covered it with a vinyl roof an didnt care how the finish product was, ive remover vinyl tops off of sedans an limos an couldnt believe the finished product, that was what happened to american quality,it became see what you could get away with not what was quality, hopefully the u.s. an the restorers are back on track for quality products, its not always the bottom line that makes you feel good sometimes its the finished product but my wife says ive gotten cynical, go figure dave

  14. hello ppg has a fleetbook of hundreds of different colors if this is for an early car without metallic it should work petty well, there is a color library in san diego, i dont have an address or phone number but i can get it if you let me know,if its a metallic color your not going to have much luck, all metallics where changed in the 80s an will never match completely,i believe bill hirsch in wisconsin still has nitrocelluloe lacquer, but if he has metallice i dont know, plus the uv rating of lacquer is very low, good luck
  15. try it again i just loed on without a problen, once loged on go into hemet calif dave
  16. hello everyone i was looking to buy a 1938 cad v16 4door sedan,i had to work on saturday an sent a friend instead, anyway i wound up without it,there was actually 4 v16 cads 2 sold 2 didnt, there is also alot of extra parts strapped to pallots,i wasnt at the auction but my friend said there is a dusenberg roadster body shell there late 20s to early 30s, i believe its on wheels,no engine or trans was told it looked like an old street rod,you now know as much as me but if you want to check it out or contact these folks there website is www.kuzmaauctions.com hope someone can save them from the scrap dave
  17. hello everyone i wasnt able to go to the auction on saturday,i sent a partner of mine to bid on the cads,(big mistake) anyway there was 4 90 series cads,3 side mount cars an one without,2 where actually sold about 10,000 for the pair, lots of additional parts are on pallots, theres 2 cads left, i dont know when they will be auctioned or when the parts will be auctioned, also there is a dusenberg body shell roadster there i didnt see it myself but was told it was late 20s or early 30s,no drivetrain was told he thought it was an old street rod,the link to the auction website is in perris calif, the auction is www.kozmaauctions.com, good luck i dont have any more info than that, i hope someone can pick these up an start a project rather than seeing them go to the scrapper, dave 1931 devaux 1932 devaux 1927 moon roadster 1939 pontiac 2 door sedan 1970 olds 442 1970 elcamino ss396

  19. guys i appreciate all the feed back ive got, when i asked if it was worth getting envolved in i was refering to the car not the value, ive restored antique, muscle cars an many other type cars and know if its not a labor of love stay away from it,because youll have more in time an money than the value of the vehicle,if ive offended anyone i apologize an in the future i think ill keep my questions to myself
  20. alsancle i asked for opinions,im sorry if that offended you in some way,ive found alot of knowledge over the years from people with more experience than myself, an have made alot of friends,im not familiar with cadillacs, but since you half to start somewhere i figured id get some good feedback, some was good,
  21. hello everyone today i looked at 2 1938 cadillac v 16s, both sedans with dual sidemounts,1 is a very resorable car the other is a parts car with no engine, both look like calif cars only rust i saw was surface rust, glass was all intact an windows where up,didnt look at the interior but would think the floors are in fairly good shape,my question is is this vehicle worth getting involved in or should i let them go,price is fair an negotiable, what do you think dave
  22. hello everyone i just found 2 1938 cadillac fleetwoods 16 cylinder 7 pass sedans,i is very restorable, would probably run with a little work, the other is a parts car no engine, are these worth getting involved in or not, there both calif cars the outsode of the restorable one is in great condition,no rust thru issues i can see, minor exterior surface rust, was parked between 2 cars an wasnt able to see inside, the windows where up an there wasnt any broken glass so its a good sign floors are in good shape, has dual side mounts wiht covers, original black cars as always thanks for the help dave
  23. hello everyone i read an article years back about an accident in which the driver was killed decapitated to be exack,i read where the car was buried at that time an was to be unearthed,i believe this was in the early 80s but i really cant remember i thought that this green dragon was the car,was this a fairy tale or was there some truth to the matter,it was many years ago an i dont remember where i read this an never heard anymore about it
  24. hello i believe this is a horn button for the aftermarket town an country type horns or musical horns,i bought a durant years back an a set of these horns came with the same type of horn button, they may be original to some car i thought they where an accessory, any way i believe its a horn button
