  1. How do I get a firewall grommet to fit into the hole? Is there a special method? They just don't want to fit. Any suggestions? I am looking to put in the cluth and brake grommet as well as several firewall ones for wires. Thanks
  2. I am looking for help getting the top of my 4 door convertible sedan to fold all the way down. It folds most of the way, but not enough to get the boot on. I have looked at the irons and even loosened them as well. I am looking for someone who may be in the Eastern CT, RI area that could help. Thanks
  3. I just received my 2014 BCA ballot back in the mail today!! I am sure alot of thought went into the ballot with our names on the voting side, but just leave it to the USPS to mess it up. They obviously can not tell the right side of a post card. I will just have to cover up my name and address etc and put it back into the mail. Hope it does not make the recycle bin!
  4. 1936 Packard 8, a four door sedan with black exterior paint, wide whitewalls with spoke Packard wheels and running board. The interior is done in tan cloth. The car has new door panels and headliner, all new in 2012. The engine is the original straight 8 and the transmission is a 3 speed manual floor shift, Both the engine and the transmission were rebuilt in 2009. Price: $38,500 Looks pretty much original. <!-- End description -->
  5. Thanks, but I found the previous version easier to read and navigate.. Always nice to see an article on a 41 Roadmaster Phaeton. Thanks
  6. Fusick or Pro Antique Auto is where I bought mine for my 53 S88.
  7. Looking forward to a ride in the 41 on a sunny Fall day.
  8. I agree one issue is the $50.00 fee for membership in the BCA. When members have to pay the $50 plus another $20 or so for the local club, it can drive off new members. I enjoy the "Bugle" as much as the AACA magazine, but membership in the AACA is only $35.00. Now add to that any other specialty club you belong to and you are well over $100 a year in membership fees. We need to come in line with other clubs in regards to our membership fee if our financials are in good shape. I know of past members that do not want to spend the extra money.
  9. I just received my January issue yesterday. It is almost February. Have I been blacklisted?
  10. I will have to say I enjoy going to the shows when the cars are lined up by year. That way you can compare the changes year to year. Nuff said.
  11. Early 1941 engines were gray. The majority of engines 90%+ were dante red. It appears most of what I can see in your picure is dante red. If your engine is black, that could represent a replacement engine. Only the engine number will tell what it is. If you locate the engine number, and vin number on the firewall, I can let you know where it was made and if the engine is in correct sequence for a Roadmaster. "1941, The Best Year Yet" was a slogan. There are many of us 41 nuts on this blog, and all are eager to help you undertand your car. Good luck!
  12. You might try some of the known Packard restoration shops. Hibernia Restoration in NJ would be one. Another would be Packard Restoration Specialists in CA.
  13. Nice find Anderson. I first read about it in Bill Anderson's book. It sounds like a neat option. I wish I had one on one of the 41's. My guess is it is a rather rare option. Where did you locate it?
  14. Anderson, Who did your chrome plating? Are you happy with it? The car is coming together nicely. Is Jesse doing your interior? Are you going with red and a black top? DE
  15. For someone who has never been there before, and sad that I did not see it when it was more complete, is the building falling down on itself or is it being taken down? Thanks
  16. Roger, The same basic blocks were made from 1935-1952 in the 248 cubic inch in the Special and Super models and 320.2 cubic inch in the Centrury, Roadmaster and Limited models. In 1941 and 1942 dual carbs were available on the Special and standard on the rest. If the carbs are adjusted correctly they work great. Both engines are a workhorse and could last forever if properly maintained. There is a great deal of difference between the 248 at 125hp and the 320.2 at 165hp. If you are looking for engines first, I would vote for the 320.2. They can leave leave just about every modern car in the dust. Great pickup and high end speed. Just watch oil pressure and compression. If not good the engine may need a rebuild down the road. Good luck. There are plenty of us 41 nuts on this blog always willing to help.
  17. On the way to work yesterday I encountered a caravan of a dozen beautiful Buick's on I-195 heading to Fall River to Battleship Cove. Hope you all had a nice time at the USS Massachusetts. It was nice to see your cars being driven.
  18. Yes, I did see it in the loading area along with a 70's Cadillac. It did not have any price or sign on it at that point.
  19. Did anyone see the 1938 Packard Super 8 at Hershey in the car coral? I did not see it before it sold. Does anyone recall seeing what was the asking price? Thanks
  20. For all of those that could not be here or left because of the rain.. Today was nice but many cars were not there. Sadly only one 41 was there but it was a beautiful Limited.
  21. A microcosm of what America has become..... on so many levels
  22. A good dose of HERSHEY in the Fall can certainly help.........:cool:
  23. Took the model 41 out for a ride today with the family and dog to Thompson, CT for ice cream. It was a beautiful Fall day in New England. Our best time of year. Too bad I could not have driven the 71C, it is in for an engine rebuild. Don't think I will be driving it again this year.
  24. Any 2013 updates on good food in Hershey? We like the Pizza at Jo Jo's in Hummelston. I have yet to find any good food in the field area. Any suggestions? Countdown 12 days!!!
