keiser31
Restoring it to original is out of the question now I guess. You may be able to find the correct year engine. So the numbers don't "match"....not a great big deal to a lot of folks. Maybe only important if you expect to get top dollar for it when finished. countrytravler
Only a purist would know. I would just build the truck to comfort your sweet tooth. It would be very costly to try to put this back to original form. We have people on here that have been working on these for 10 plus years and still going.Picture is our 34s. The blue one is in the Chry Museum in MI.
Guest softtomgirl
Since my dad is terminally ill I plan to keep it and drive it. He gave it to me so it's kind of a sentimental thing. I'll just do the best I can to keep it original. I'm not going to get a different engine. BTW-wheelbase is 111".

countrytravler
please tell me this was not the serial #. Where did that come from?
countrytravler
Serial numbers were located on the fire wall, frame and engine in that time period. Rarely the frame number was used.
Guest softtomgirl
it was on the driver door panel where the hinges are

countrytravler
They hadn't started that untill 1939. What's on the fire wall above the steering column?
1936 D2
But we could assume that the new 1935 truck would have received some level of regular service at least into the '50's, hence the service stickers that have now come unglued. Guest softtomgirl
there are some old stickers remaining (which is amazing). this one just looked different. I have briefly looked under the hood at the firewall. i'll look closer.

Guest softtomgirl
There is something mounted on the firewall above the steering column. Looks like a regulatory and a box with 3 round fuses. I'll pull them off and look behind them.
Guest softtomgirl
and of course the frame is all rusted for now.
1936 D2
Be sure to have a bit of a soft touch when cleaning the frame to look for numbers. They are VERY lightly stamped. If you are too aggressive with the techniques used to find them (grinding wheels, industrial sandblasting, etc) you may create a bigger problem. If that should happen though there are ways to try and recover the obliterated numbers, but it is much easier to do it judiciously the first time and save the trouble.
