Hi, Mikzjr...

The South Jersey Region's huge and great parts flea market is on Sunday, March 26th.

Please note that it is now being held at the Salem County Fairgrounds, which is almost within eyesight of the former location, Cowtown Rodeo.

While there, please stop by the AACA Library & Research Center booth. Would be great to meet you and well worth your while.

Spread the word to friends to stop by...

Regards,

Peter J. <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

  • 2 weeks later...

Can someone give a report on this event? How was it this year? I used to attend regularly, and always found some goodies, but had to drop it from the schedule when they switched locations. And now the new date is a conflict also. Whats the story about vendors not arriving until 9am? Thats a major change as I used to get in there very early and it was in full swing well before then.

Thanks,

Terry

Hi, Terry...

Fran & John Shore and myself really did not have much time to walk around. We manned our AACA stand pretty much all day, leaving just to get some chow.

We spoke with various South Jersey Region folks and they expressed great satisfaction with the amount of vendors present. I arrived around 8:30 and the vendors were all set up and doing business. One gent told us the vendors were selling very well.

The traffic was backed up for about 1-2 miles in both directions with people coming to the event.

By the way, the South Jersey Region really extended the welcome mat to us. Provided a nice building to sell tickets, promote the Library and AACA functions. Also fed us non-gratis...many thanks to them.

Quite an event. I will return for sure.

Regards,

Thanks for the report - I know S.Jersey does a great job, will need to juggle the calendar to see if I can make it next year. Got the dates figured out yet?

Guest SalG (Sal Grenci)

I went for the first time. Good event, easy to find 5 miles off the end of the Jersey Turnpike. No admission or parking fee (we part on the sod farm) 150 miles from central Long Island. Six hours in the car, 2 hrs onsite. Not a good show for me, I have two '25 Model T's, but if you are into 60's to 80's a great event. Bought 1 dozen work gloves for $15 bucks. Met Peter J. and Fran Shore (Peter will deliver the raffle car to me when I win) Sold and light rain, but by Hershey standards no big deal. Traffic at 9:30 was heavy, when we left it was crazy.

Arrived late..... got there with the sun up at 6:05am and was kicking myself for stopping for pancakes a few minutes earlier....!

$5.00 Vintage 1960's red police car light, works (this was a steal)

$15.00 Two nice blue water tanks for a cistern or well

$1.00 Pair of gloves (a bit chilly, got colder as morning went on)

$5.00 Vintage porcelain wall mounted mini water fountain (old gas station restoration project)

Met a vendor who was at the Hershey auction the day before, he had a ton of stuff laid out and selling for good prices. A small one day show that is always an adventure, can't always get there as it's a good ways to travel.

It's like any auction, some are better than others. Last year I got 3 mannequins for pocket change... filled the car last year to the roof with parts... plaster legs and arms hanging out the windows.

This year had the same quantity, didn't see as much "treasure" this year... spent 1/2 of what I did last year.

Someone got a nice yellow traffic light with neat metal pole/stand, nos bumper guards here and there. (I got 2 huge boxes of cartridge oil filters... $1 each at my yet to be announced, transplanted blue field space... look for the mannequins LOL dressed in vintage beach attire) Some nos headers, mufflers, lots of car magazines. A very nice "bound" set of AACA magazines that will look great in someones library. A set or two of those huge tire coasters that allow you to push your car around in the garage... they weren't cheep.

I'm content with my current restoration project so I didn't pay no attention to the cars for sale. Currently need a powersteering pump for a 1966 Ford C700 Truck... can I find someone to rebuild a vintage 60's pump, or should I just use a newer model for the 391ci gas engine ??????

Oh.... a happy story.... a friend is loading a somewhat dinged front bumper for a 50's chevy into the back trunk of his sedan, bumper sticking way out and needed the trunk hood to be tied down, with 2 feet of bumper still hanging out. I laughed and said to my friend two words "station wagon". He laughs back, tells me the chrome bumperets on his new bumper are worth about $600 as they didn't make many of them...!!!!! Live and learn.
