What's your single "best" TC memory?

Recommended Posts

Probably seeing my TC for the first time after searching two years for the right car . That little

walk around and seeing that the car was actually as the seller had described it <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> Usually there

are a whole bunch of small issues that weren't detailed in the sales discussions. Although I still have

a bunch more work to get my car where I want it, I am proud to drive it anywhere no matter what

the calibre of cars in attendance.

I'm a newbie to the TC, but I have had a moment. My 1989 TC (called Redwing by the previous owner) had never had the hardtop off in its 15 years of previous ownership. A bright sunny day, a couple willing hands from she-who-must-be-obeyed to help, and off she came. Some cleaning and polishing of the tonneau cover to remove 15 years of dust, then the soft top came out -- first time ever erected. Soft top stowed again, start her up, and a quick ride down the bypass with the top down - what a feeling. Pix to the previous owner brought an admission that Redwing looked pretty good "topless"...

A LeBaron with portholes? I don't think so.

In the summer of 1998 within the first months of ownership being followed into a Dodge dealership asking if it was a new car and what was it?

Also at the grand canyon coming back from the national at Palm Springs (1999) being asked if it was the new T-Bird.

By the way the car had over 62K when I purchased it in 1998, now it is over a 104K. Still shows well, placed first in TC class at the WPC meet this year.

To make a short story long (as we TC owners like to do).

Purchased my first TC in May of 2004. It is a white 1991 with a ginger interior and purchased out of Dallas, TX. Had the car shipped to Kentucky and when it arrived it was the first TC I had ever seen live and in color.

Drove the car about 25 miles and pulled over to fill up the gas tank. While filling up a lady pulled in beside me to gas up. When she got out she ask me "what type of car is that". Told here what it was, and she replied "That Is The Most Beautiful Car I have Ever Seen". Right then I knew I had purchased the right car.

Today was another gorgeous day in Florida, and I took my yellow 91 TC out for a drive down A1A. Breeze blowing, stereo cranking; life is good. I pulled up to a stoplight (2nd in line in the fast lane, of course). A guy in an Escalade pulled up next to me and started staring. I swear I could see the drool dripping from the corner of his mouth.

Light changed, and I sped away. As I looked in the rear view mirror, I noticed the guy was till sitting there, I assume stunned at the remarkable auto he just witnessed. Some guy in a Camry in back of him was honking away.

I love this car. <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

Well, it was 70 in St. Louis yesterday and I installed a REAL TII computer. Took it for a test drive. That wasn't the best moment. It was just a little faster in boost. It will probably be when I install a "D valve" A WHAT? It is a plumbing valve you install right before the throttle body that opens to atmosphere under vacuum so you don't have to wait through the turbo lag. You get more go from stop and the turbo spools faster. My 89 automatic feels like it wants to play at 70 mph plus.

I walked across the dirt road in front of my Moms house and looked in the old white wooden garage that had half the paint peeling off. The neighbor had the door up and was gone for awhile. I gently picked up the back rear corner of the light blue car cover and saw a beautiful purplely 2 dr coupe with a purplely leather inside. I saw on the rear "Chrysler TC by Maserati" and wondered what in the world is that! But whats the best memory? It took seven years but now the 89 TC sits in my garage with a new car cover!

Single BEST ? That's a difficult choice between so many... My first TC was purchased in '95 just prior to the TC National in Indianapolis. My wife and I joined TC America and were able to make the cross country trek with a group of owners. Driving 1 lap at that famous speedway was probably the BEST. Many others since then but I'll put that as #1.

BTW my wife just reminded me that 5 years ago today, April 9th, we were married at the Flamingo in Laughlin at the TC America National.

I already replied on this thread once, but just had another moment yesterday.

I was parked at a local strip mall, and when I came out of the store and openned the trunk, a gentleman came running over. He had seen the car (Red '89 TurboII)and checked it out, then had his wife wait for the owner to arrive. His openning comment was to the effect, "I told my wife that was the most beautiful car I had ever seen, but I had no idea what it was and just had to talk to the owner." We chatted for several minutes and I went through the history of the car, etc. He seemed to leave a happy man...

...second one in less than a week. Same strip mall, same scenario, only this time it was a local cop looking the TC over. Commented that he had never seen one, but knew what it was. We chatted for awhile, then he cruised off...
