Trying to get a table there for a large munber of people would normally be a <span style="font-style: italic">very</span> tall order on a Friday at noon. I'm sure someone would have to call ahead of time such as Peter always does with St. George's. It may be worth a call to see if we could reserve some tables. Just thought it may be a possible option. You walk out the back of the Wyndham and about eight blocks, past the courthouse (or whatever), on a narrow street across from a parking garage - is that the one that closed? When? I have a book of matches in front of me from the one on Walnut, it says "The world famous restaurant down by the river". That is the one owned by the Taxin family, the one where Sandy Taxin would come by and give you her business card when she asked how everthing was. It was the one with all the photos (100's) of famus people who ate there. It went out of business two years ago. (It is the one in the link w/ the exterior photo) I just called the number on the matches, 215-925-7027 and a message says that they are reopening in the summer of 2004. I have been to the one on 15th Street the past two years. (the one with the inside photo in the link). I called the phone number on the web listing, 215-545-1137 and it is disconnected. I read in the paper last summer that the uptown Bookbinders has closed. The one near the waterfront closed many years ago.Ron ~ Don't go up early for dinner without finding out for sure it still exists. I don't think any of us really know for sure the status of the last remaining Bookbinders. Web sites, and phone numbers be damned. Somebody near or in Philadelphia had better go the the front door and find out the REAL story.But of course that is just my opinion. It means nothing to me since I'm not going to the Annual Meeting this year, and by the time that is over we will all know for sure, now won't we.By the way, I am very willing to be wrong on this. Just my opinion here, but the lobby sounds like the best option to me. The available box lunches could be brought with the members to that lobby area with the "statue" (They weren't Southerners, so I can't remember their names!) A less hurried time period might bring in even more DFers.I haven't seen the schedule, but isn't the General Meeting held after lunch on Friday? Seems to me we could all congregate in the Seminar Room for Peter's program and mingle until Peter begins. Wouldn't have to go anywhere, would already be there. (I've found that just because hotels may provide coffee and donuts for seminars, it doesn't mean that they'll allow an organized meal [they didn't cater] in the same room.)
