58L-Y8
For Sale: 1971 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royale Convertible - $11,500 - Crosslake, MN 1971 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royale Convertible for sale by owner - Crosslake, MN - craigslist Seller's Description: 1971 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royale convertible. 455ci V8 with 2-barrel carb. Very nice condition, all original except paint and top. Paint is great. Convertible top is very good condition and operates as it should. 82,000 on odometer but it stopped working long ago. (Oil change sticker from 1998 shows 82,000 + mileage!) It has basically been in storage for the last 20+ years and only taken out for "exercise" cruises. Probably averaged less than 50 miles per year. Upholstery is all intact Tires are all matching narrow whitewalls...but older. Original wheel covers. Missing one small chrome trim piece at "vent". See photo. Cracked taillight lens. See photo. Rust on portion of rear bumper. See photo. Needs brake vacuum booster replaced. Rubber diaphragm deteriorated. The brakes however work fine. Dual exhaust, great sound. Newer battery, oil and filters. Runs and drives well. Floats along like the big car it is. The Standard Catalog of American Cars, 1946-1975, edited by John Gunnell states 2,883 1971 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royale Convertibles built.

rocketraider
I'd like to see the body data plate. After two years as a Toronado-exclusive color, Code 53 Nugget Gold was available for the whole 1971 Oldsmobile lineup. It's usually combined with a black or white interior but this is undoubtedly green, and I can't imagine anyone changing out a whole Delta 88 interior. Paint appears to be original color going by the trunk jambs. Green was an available Delta convertible interior color. Sandalwood would have worked well with this loud gold, but was available only on Delta 4-door sedans. Needs these. Combined with that color they'd make this big Osemobeel pop. Verdict? If you can deal with the oddball color combination, and if the dread scissor top works well, it's probably a decent deal on a big 70s GM ragtop. It'd be an even better deal with a refurbished brake booster and repaired odometer (speedometer is not difficult to R&R on these).

Jim Skelly
It was probably originally a white or green exterior.
