Looking for a source for rod end bolts

Recommended Posts

Any advice on where to go to buy a couple of rod end bolts? I'm assuming it's just a dimensional part, see measurements in the pic.

It is for my 1924 Cole V-8, but Cole was an assembled car and used a Northway engine. The Cole version of the Northway V-8 was designed and manufactured specifically for Cole, and it was basically the same from 1916 - 1925. But Northway also provided engines to Cadillac and Olds, and I'm assuming that they shared common parts like rod end bolts.

Also, this engine was rebuilt in the mid-90's, so the rod end bolts are probably not original, anyhow. Any ideas on who to talk to to figure out what I really need?

Would it be feasible to fabricate your own from a grade eight, 5/16-24 bolt?

My first thought too. Commonly available in either 2" or 2-1/4" under the head, both have 7/8" of thread. Flatten off one side of the head....seems like it ought to work.
