deac
Okay I'm impressed. Few people would consider restoring one of these. Though we've seen some decent drivers show up here but this one looks better. The price seems fair if the car is as good as looks in these pictures
TAKerry
I guess its because I hit 60, but until recently I would not have given a post war 4 door car a second glance. But I really like this one and have seen some others recently that are very nice. I particularly like the wrap around back window cars. And I assume this is a 'hardtop' (pillarless between the windows), even the better. If it really is original (not a repaint etc.) it might be one of the nicest originals out there.
7th Son
Here's a couple of piddlys about the Pontiac. Upholstery vinyl looks original, especially with the embossed emblems and the sunburn near the package tray, but the cloth inserts are not a factory pattern. The hubcaps may be original, but the fake knock-offs are added accessory items. No comment about the trunk mat except that it reminds me of grandma's oil cloth kitchen table cloth. The GM 1960 vista hardtops, in my opinion, appear more attractive due to the deemphasized tail fins and flat wide decks used that year as opposed to '59.
The 55er
An overhyped and overpriced car in underwhelming condition. A low optioned Catalina with no PS or PB in an unattractive color. And what's up with those rocker panels? A better-optioned Bonneville Vista would be more desirable and with the wrong interior fabric and silly hubcaps I'm just not seeing the attraction here with an asking price approaching $20 grand. And turn the lights off for the picture taking, you're not helping the sale, you're just draining the battery that's missing the hold down. TAKerry
You guys are tough! I had to go back and look again to see what I was missing. Im not seeing a car thats aweful. Sure the engine bay leaves a lot to be desired, int.? original or not its pretty complete and if the paint looks half as good in person ( a lot of times it doesnt!) Its still a decent car. Asking price? I have no idea but I would not spend more than about 10k on a car like this. Once the price hits 20k I could broaden my horizons and search for something I really like.
EmTee
A friend of mine has a coupe in the same mahogany color; it's much better looking in person. The flat-top design makes a handsome 4-door, however, this one seems overpriced given the needs it has.
The 55er
Maybe I'm just biased. I had a 1960 Catalina coupe 40 years ago, mine was Coronado Red with a white top and a red interior. It was a daily driver for a few years but the rust got to be too much and I sold it. Bottom line is this one's a 4 door with a few needs and the seller still wants almost $20K for it. 6T-FinSeeker
I like this Mahogany brown and white combination. It stands out from the more common colors. Oldsmobile offered a similar color in 1960 called Cordovan. That was the first time I saw the color. It was on a 1960 Olds Dynamic 88 sedan from Hammond, Indiana that I lost to a higher bidder many years ago. I'm not being critical of those that don't share my enthusiam for the Mahogany color, I just happen to like it. That's a very quick sale. It's good to see cars selling for prices fair to both buyer and seller. It had an asking price of $19,500. Did it, perhaps, sell for $15,000 or $16,000? The 55er
With Spring Carlisle only two weeks away I wouldn't be surprised if it turned up for sale in the Auction or Car Corral with a higher price tag by some Flipperoonie.
John_S_in_Penna
THE CAR IS NOW FOR SALE AGAIN BY THE NEW OWNER. It's absolutely the same car, and here is his Youtube video. After a drive of 700 miles to South Carolina, the asking price is $24,500. And his e-mail (from the video description) is Jared1970MonteCarlo--at--yahoo.com. Although it's a sad chapter in this car's life, hopefuly, a new owner will appreciate it and give it a good home. John_S_in_Penna
Although the flipper's price is unrealistic, he seems to present the Pontiac fairly and accurately on the video. Honesty is always a good quality to see.
