364nailhead
Engine cranks, but will not fire. Would the starter switch play a role in this happening? I have fuel squirting into carburetor, I have spark on all plug wires, I have spark from the coil wire.
95Cardinal
If it cranks when you press the accelerator, the switch is working. Fuel in the carb doesn't necessarily mean there is fuel entering the cylinders. I would check compression first. Also check for clean, tight engine-to-body and engine-to-frame ground straps. Check spark plugs, plug gap, correct firing order. In my experience, the timing needs to be right at spec (5 degrees BTDC). 2
JohnD1956
have you changed the timing chain and gears? Or otherwise had the distributor out? Does sound like a timing issue. 1
Smartin
check voltage at the + side of the coil. If no voltage, check voltage at incoming side of ballast resistor.
NC-car-guy
Definitely not the carb switch. If you have fuel and spark, you're lacking compression or timing.... 1

364nailhead
Update: Sorry it took so long to finish this. After going thru Ignition Timing, Spark Plugs, checking for Vacuum Leaks, Fuel Delivery! Finally the car would start with the carburetor choke on. Which before the rebuild would start with out the choke on. After this, the engine developed a really bad hesitation flat on its face, stall out from a dead stop. Accelerator pump was giving a shot of fuel, as you opened the throttle just not enough. Changed accelerator pump and spring (A slight shorter spring) Up and running again jeeze-o-pete! So, I rewarded her new shoes 3" White Walls! Older material (except for leather) isn't ethanol-tolerant and could cause trouble, if age alone wasn't to blame. The accelerator pump diaphragm in my Riviera lets me know whenever it detects ethanol in the fuel! I have a new one (blue colored) I bought awhile ago to install , but since I run ethanol-free 99% of the time I haven't put this task on my 'must-do ASAP' list...
