Very beautiful colors on this car, I believe that this will make the new buyer very happy, needs very little to be your every day driver.  I wish that this was a 400 with matching interior, that would be killer.  GLWTS

The car looks nice and deserves an appreciative home.

Its 2-tone paint lines would identify it a block away.

In scanning car-for-sale ads, I do not come upon

1955 Clippers very often.  The regular Packards

are seen much more frequently.  So many cars have

slid into obscurity while collectors favored the more

glamorous models.  This is one case where the seller's

description of "seldom seen and rare" is accurate.

A nice looking car...but I have a couple of questions:

  1. Is the air cleaner shown a stock Packard item? Sure looks like a Cadillac or Oldsmobile item of about the same time period.
  2. The gas filler tube appears to fill into the bottom half of the gas tank. If that's the case, how do you get a full tank of gas? Maybe i'm seeing it wrong.

Look again:  there is a vent tube that goes over the frame rail and up beside the filler pipe.

I believe that GM Olds/Cadillac style batwing air cleaner would be correct for Packards that came with Rochester 4-bbl carburetors, I have seen that same air cleaner on a number of 1955-1956 era Packards. Maybe an expert can confirm.

I think you're right.  The Eldorado and Caribbean dual carb versions are almost the same in appearance and interchange.

Have you ever noticed that mid-1950's cars have

graceful lines and almost happy-looking faces?

That may sound silly, but I think it speaks to the

spirit of the times.  In addition to mere technical

knowledge, a designer must have a calm

and elevated thought to produce beauty and grace.

For some of today's cars, designers make them

scowling and aggressive.  Have they lost the purer,

higher sense of design?  They need to take more

inspiration from the timeless excellence of the past--

and that's one reason we preserve such excellence!

All the jap cars of today look like angry fish to me. Scowling carp.
