Willy
Looking to restore the brakes on my 1919 DB Touring - who sells the linings?
Mark Gregush
ROMAR or Myers should but also check MacMaster Carr. They have the woven lining with the brass thread woven in by the foot.
nat
New material will be non-asbestos. That which is in there now appears to be asbestos. Some caution is advised.
Willy
The pads look like they’re glued in. How could I remove them safely?
nat
Probably the correct thing to do is hire a licenced abatement contractor. Keep it wet outdoors with an appropriate respirator?
nearchoclatetown
The lining should be riveted on with brass rivets.
Willy
No rivets. The lining actually looks fairly new. I just figured if I have it apart, I should re- shoe it. It doesn’t appear to have wear, but the elements seem to have done something to it. I’m going to take the advice that it might be asbestos, and remove it, replacing with new lining. Thanks fellas! Maybe check the linings first? It looks like the back side of the rivets are there.
Minibago
Outer band.
MikeC5
Looks like it has rivets to me. I don’t see any signs of glue. Try punching or drilling out the rivets (but don’t enlarge the hole in band/shoe.
