1965 Electra coupe, California

Recommended Posts

Here's another '65 Electra coupe that might be an attractive alternative to the one offered in Nebraska.

This one is in the two-tone paint combination of Shell Beige / Sahara Mist, and might be a 20,000-mile original example.  The Facebook Marketplace listings are typically weak presentations with little detail and poor photos.

Nonetheless, these are beautiful cars, and the unique coupes are scarce.  A downside for some is that there is no A/C, power windows, or power seat, and I think this one has the base level interior trim.  The low-option examples appeal to some of us, and, if this one is in pristine condition, it might be worth a look.

That’s an amazing car Brian. Set up the way I like. I’m not an AC power accessories guy. I like PS and PB but feel those old options like power seats, windows and AC fail so often, it’s not worth the hassle.

How many times do we see the comment on sales “ AC just needs a little charge”.

I would seriously take a run at this one and might, but it would have to be sight unseen.  It’s a long way away, superior to the Nebraska car.

Been in communication with him.  He wants a local sale.  It’s in Temecula CA. I google mapped it at about 1700 miles, 23 1/2 hours. 2 days at 12 hours a day.  Maybe 2 1/2 days.  I need a local Buick rep to handle the transaction.

Go for it, Jake!    Good road trip.

It looks like a nice car, at least from the limited pictures.

There are at least 100 Rivieras from 1965 available for

every Electra coupe.  This is not at all a common car any

more, and it shouldn't be overlooked.

And for the forum's record, the asking price is $12,000.

I see that Temecula, Calif. is between Los Angeles and

San Diego in the southern part of the state.  Jake, I'm

rooting for you!

wonder if there's some hidden issue?

There are no good pictures of the interior, so

maybe the interior isn't so nice.  Also, Jake, by

calling the seller, found out that he wants a local

sale.  Those things both would hinder a sale to

an otherwise broad hobby.

When I'm looking for seldom-seen cars, I've found that

I must be willing to search far afield, and sometimes

get something that needs some work.  A buyer can't say,

"Well, I want a different color and something within

300 miles."  The field of possibilities may be only

one or two examples a year.
