EmTee Posted July 31, 2023 Posted July 31, 2023 I'm guessing to access speed nuts that hold fender emblems. Thinking about it, the usual situation I have seen on similar GM cars is 'push-in' inserts that snap into the fender holes and grab the tangs on the emblem. So, the emblem just pushes on and can be pried off. 1
Smartin Posted July 31, 2023 Posted July 31, 2023 Ok I just realized the 68 is different than 69 regarding the emblems. Still seems odd that it's not the same skeleton. 1
Ted "Wildcat65" Nagel Posted December 11, 2023 Author Posted December 11, 2023 body is back on the frame. lots of fitment fun next. 3
sebastienbuick Posted December 11, 2023 Posted December 11, 2023 Woww , great work ! The rear of the frame looks like my 1969 Electra
Ted "Wildcat65" Nagel Posted March 28 Author Posted March 28 We dropped the engine in a couple weeks ago. Steve is slow struglling with some infrastructure problem but should be on this heavy to get body done soon. 6

Ted "Wildcat65" Nagel Posted June 14 Author Posted June 14 Ah, the tedious details fixing rusty front inner fenders... 1
Ted "Wildcat65" Nagel Posted June 14 Author Posted June 14 Meanwhile I just registered fro MCACN with my red automatic GS400 4
Ted "Wildcat65" Nagel Posted June 14 Author Posted June 14 New new pedals - old ones were very messed up. New ones look great! 1
sebastienbuick Posted June 14 Posted June 14 Superb work ! And your Buick GS 400 red is BEAUTIFULLLL !!
Ted "Wildcat65" Nagel Posted June 17 Author Posted June 17 The ubiquitous rusty 68 core support, with matching inner fender! Picture here is car as it was being torn down. It was a MESS! 1
Ted "Wildcat65" Nagel Posted June 26 Author Posted June 26 Did some parts farming last night, got a NICE pedal/column mount out. New pedals on it, next week I'll have a big push to hang exhaust and some engine bits. Had the air compressor pressure switch go bad and a Air Dryer unit I ordered was damaged in shipment so 2 forward, 1 back... 1
Ted "Wildcat65" Nagel Posted August 15 Author Posted August 15 No great pictures but the mechanical bits are getting their day. 4
Ted "Wildcat65" Nagel Posted August 28 Author Posted August 28 Well this 68 GS 400 coupe was not in the initial 4 mentioned in the title, it seems appropriate that it is included. I decided to take it to MCACN in November but it needed a little freshening...or a lot - some rust bubbles needed to be fixed and the engine compartment needed attention. Then the trunk floor had some problems! I Love Old Cars LOL. I drove this one to Charlotte in 2012. I will bring it again in 2025! 4
Ted "Wildcat65" Nagel Posted August 28 Author Posted August 28 Quote The convertible engine is getting dressed as well. Front clip bodywork started now... It was all lined up but not painted...the hood is going to be a pain. 5
sebastienbuick Posted August 28 Posted August 28 Very good work , and very very beautiful Buick GS 400 !! 1
Ted "Wildcat65" Nagel Posted October 12 Author Posted October 12 Little bits going on. Tons of detail to re install these trim bits since the nubs were ground off. Slow is fast. 2
Ted "Wildcat65" Nagel Posted October 12 Author Posted October 12 Quarter panel repair ready for sanding. This is the Arctic White 68 GS400. For MCACN and next year Charlotte- I drove it there in 2012. 7
Ted "Wildcat65" Nagel Posted November 9 Author Posted November 9 Again working on getting a couple of my cars ready for MCACN...my initial post said 4x but now im working on #5and #6 68's that were not projects whenI started this post!!!!! So MuchFun. Here is the 68 GS400 in Arctic White and Black Vinyl top, Bench seat automatic. This car has been to Musclepalooza in 2007, vaca in N Michigan, Bowling Green a couple times, Charlotte in 2012...NC Thanksgiving to see Dad (that is when it was exposed to some nefarious elements on the drive home and the rust bubbles appeared!)its an excellent driver. So it deserved a freshening. Paint today. new timing chain, heads, mufflers, little details. We have 13 days... 3
Ted "Wildcat65" Nagel Posted November 9 Author Posted November 9 The 68 GS400 convertible that was "done" also requires some help. Hood scoop was not detailed correctly and a couple other things needed to be upgraded for the show. Low Gloss Duplicolor to the rescue! Insides of the grill support and hood scoop fins painted. 5
EmTee Posted November 9 Posted November 9 12 hours ago, Ted "Wildcat65" Nagel said: So it deserved a freshening. Sounds simple; the photos say otherwise! Nice work - your cars are all top shelf. I think my Riviera could benefit from a freshening at the 'Wildcat Spa'... Good luck at MCACN! 2
Ted "Wildcat65" Nagel Posted Tuesday at 02:11 PM Author Posted Tuesday at 02:11 PM (edited) We were not able to finish the Arctic White GS400 for the MCACN show - these major body parts just did not look good enough. Stripped they look fantastic. This will go together fast now. Full repaint! Did not look bad but there was rust bubbling and previous paint job was covering up bondo rust repair. That is all cut out and new metal welded back in. We are touching up the engine and E bay as well. Edited Tuesday at 02:12 PM by Ted "Wildcat65" Nagel sp err crrct (see edit history) 7
