Nice car in desirable condition. 

Those have always seemed to me to be a nice looking car. Attractive styling. Much nicer looking than the 63 Dart my Dad chose in my opinion. The drive train in the Dart's and Valiant's is hard to beat for reliability though. Come to think of it both Ford and Chevrolet had nice looking cars that year.

My Mom had a 64 Comet for a few years back in the late 60s, whatever the upscale trim model was with a small v-8, nice car.

I'm some what surprised by the 260. Wasn't the base V-8 for Comets in 63  something like a 223 or so?  260 special up grade?

The 144 ci six was the Comet base engine, the 170 ci six and 260 V8 were optional.

I remember a friend back in the late 60’s who had what I remember as a Comet for a winter car and I could have sworn he said it had a 223 v8. Guess as Elvis said, “Them memories isn’t clear” Thanks for the clarification.

Mercury did have a 221 cu.in. v-8. My neighbor put one in a 37 Ford. When I asked him about it he said it was the 260's little brother and he got it out of a small Merc.

The small-block Ford was introduced in the '62 Fairlane and Mercury Meteor, but it was a 221, not a 223.
