edinmass
Here you go boys. From a barn in northern Vermont, a 1946 Model 1 NOS chassis kit. Never built. We bought it to build a Stutz replica car. Ended up with something better. Anyways, here is a great father/son or grandfather/grandson project. You can buy the body plans on line and build it out. There are several engine possibilities from 6 to 12 horsepower. All available and affordable from the era, or use something new if that meets you fancy. Available at my farm in Western Massachuetts. 950 bucks gets you this fun machine. Can bring to Hershey Fall meet this year of 2021........contact me by PM. Will take Crown Royal as substitute payment of equal value. 🥸 Cute Scotty dog Tattie not included. Unlike myself, she can’t hold her liquor! Gary_Ash
I need another bodywork project like I need another hole in my head! I remember the ads in Mechanix Illustrated and the other magazines back when I was 14 or so, seemed like just the right kind of thing. But, can you imagine driving something like that on a road now? I thought the King Midgets had two seats. This looks like a single-seater, a Model 1.

Gary_Ash
Times do change, Ed. For my mini racer, I now want a cyclekart. I know what mine would look like. Maybe we could get a bunch of them built and have races at Hershey. See
1912Staver
The later ones are a bit more " car like " but still pretty bare bones. Yours is just a small step removed from a go - kart Ed. But with the factory body they have a very cool look. A good friend was a big fan of King Midgets { he was a big fan of Popular Mechanics when he was young } but never was able to buy one before his health took a tragic turn , far too young. He figured a King Midget actually could be reasonably useful to him. He lived just on the outskirts of a smaller town and for shopping etc . would generally be useful. Also only about 7 or 8 miles from his place to work 80% on quiet farm roads. The last 5 years he had a Model A pickup that was regularly used as long as it wasn't " monsoon season ". { Pacific North West slang for Winter } Edited June 9, 2021 by 1912Staver (see edit history)
pkhammer
Is the left front rim badly bent or is that a section of the tube hanging out? I work at a metal fabrication shop that has some cool stuff including water-jet, laser, rolls, press brake, etc. Making a body for this little jewel would be fun. Admiral Acbon
Ed, any chance this is still available? My dad and I are members of the International King Midget Car Club and I'd love to have one of my own. Our club president let me drive his Model 2 at a meet last year and it was an absolute blast (granted, having an 18HP Briggs engine helped).
