suchan
One of the coolest domestic car designs. A pity it's been neglected. It'd be an easier decision if it was a more desirable body style. Massive re-chrome cost. Seller implies it runs?
Guest
I agree, great design! A simple clean up with a few more pictures certainly would have helped.

Hudsy Wudsy
It's sort of funny how conspicuous the parking lights are now that the headlights have disappeared. Maybe they should have been blended into the horizontal molding above.
John S.
Rare enough to deserve a nice restoration.
Hudsy Wudsy
I'm always a fan of Chrysler engineering, but I'm enough of a realist to assume that those clever headlight doors didn't always open every time. Even a few decades later they could be problematic. Still, I'd be willing to take my chances!

The headlight covers were mechanically operated by a lever under the dash to the right of the steering column. I attended a National DeSoto Club national meet about twenty years ago, the owner of a '42 DeSoto demonstrated how they worked to a group of us.

alsancle
The 42 Desoto in any body style is practically made of unobtainium. I expect this car to sell to someone, maybe not at the 8500 asking price, but it will sell. Somebody find me a nice one of these and I will step up like a big boy. 1
