kingrudy
Price is very low for this car, IMO. If the ignition issue turns into something with the engine, then where do you end up? If it was close, it would be worth a look.

JRHaelig
Well bought. Very sharp car and I think it will clean up quite nicely. I'm sure the new owner agrees. Kanter's is right by me and I believe would have any parts that have worn out or dried up. Hope the buyer pops up here soon.
Marty Roth
I had sent off a couple of questions to the seller maybe an hour or so before the post was listed as "SOLD"
Andrew M
I am the one who bought the car on Friday. It seems like a decent car. It has sat for the past several years after the previous owner's dad passed away. For the most part, everything I have tried on the car seems to work. The car has every option available in 1956 except for air conditioning. However, there is an A/C system in the trunk. It has power windows, power seat, power steering, power brakes, Wonderbar radio, etc. It also has the Packard torsion bar suspension. The car is self-leveling. When weight is applied to the rear or front of the car, the car suspension will compensate itself back to level automatically. The engine is the factory 374 Packard V8 with 290 hp and 405 pounds of torque. It has the Packard Ultramatic transmission. The original leather seat covers are under the black seat covers that are currently on the seats. The door panels and headliner are original and in decent shape. The odometer shows 36,200 miles, however, I do not know if it is original miles or not. In the glove box, I found the original owner's manual and other original documents. In the owner's manual was the original dealership and date of delivery along with the original owner identification card. In the glove box, there is also a factory Packard first aid kit and dealer service decals. The trunk of the car still has the original spare tire and jack. When the car was restored in 2000 they seemed to do a decent job. The body is fairly straight. It seems to be a solid car. The paint is decent but needs to be buffed and polished. It is pretty dusty and dirty from sitting several years. However, one good thing is that it has been parked inside. The car was originally solid color Persian Aqua. However, when it was restored, it was painted two tone factory colors, Persian Aqua and Dover White. While most of the chrome is in great original shape, some of the chrome looks to have been replated when it was restored. I haven't had a chance to completely wash and detail the car yet, but I have cleaned and test polished several areas of paint and chrome, and it polished up nicely. While looking in the glove box, I also found a sticker off one of the tires with a date of December 28, 2002. While the tires are not dry rotted, they will be getting replaced due to the age. According to the odometer of the car has been driven about 1500 miles since the tires were replaced in 2002 judging by the recorded mileage information. The car was started and moved last year according to the guy I bought it from, but it hasn't really been driven much since last tagged in 2011. After seeing the Packard Club plate on the front tag bracket, I researched online and found out the previous owner was a member of the national Packard club. I am planning on getting new white wall tires and factory style wire wheels to put on it. My plans for the car are to get it going and take it to shows here locally. JRHaelig
Congtatlations! What a great weekend for you! First car in the hobby? See my note about Kanter's here in New Jersey. Lots of other suppliers, I'm sure, but they have quite a catalog. Enjoy your cleaning and polishing. It can be one of the best parts!

It is my first Packard. I also have a 55 Chevrolet 3100, 57 Bel Air, 60 Bel Air coupe, and a 65 Barracuda Formula S. I currently serve as secretary of the Apple Country North Ga region of the AACA. I’m excited about the car.

B Jake Moran
The reason I stated $7500 was too much was due to the black seats. This was explained as a seat cover only by the buyer. We have seen countless seats done incorrectly on the postings here because original seat material is getting harder and harder to source. Therefore, I felt the price was too much.

Therefore, I felt the price was too much. I own and operate a classic car upholstery shop, so I will probably return it back to the stock pattern in the future. I haven't pulled the covers off to see the original leather upholstery underneath, but the rest of the interior is in good shape. What I can see of the original seat looks decent. It looks to be turquoise and white leather and black cloth inserts matching the door panels. I think the turquoise is vinyl, however it might be leather. I haven't had a chance to look real close yet. I know for sure that the black on the door panel armrests and white on the seat is genuine leather. B Jake Moran
Should be leather and clothe. This is a Four Hundred not a Clipper. I have been in at least 4 1956 Four Hundreds and seen several more. All had leather and fabric seating.

I knew the armrests were leather and the white part on the seat. However, I could only see a very small part of the turquoise without taking the black cover off. I figured it was most likely leather though since the other parts are. Thanks for the help.
