65 Console Heat Vent

How does the leg vent on the drivers side of the console attach to the console?  I see no screw holes or anything else to attach.  Do I just glue it in place?

if you mean the square cardboard tube that goes to the rear, as I remember it just lays there and the console goes over it

I am referring to the small circular vent that blows air on the drivers leg.  It connects to a hose that runs to the diffuser at the firewall.

My 65's had a corbin clamp.

IF I remember correctly there was NO clamp on either end of the hose.  It was a rather tight slip fit.  The wire in the hose had enough tension on it to hold it in place.

2nd Pat. Both my 64 and 65 have a spring hose clamp holding it on.

My bad for not being clear...I am trying to figure out how the actual plastic vent that pokes thru the console remains in the hole in the console.  I have the hose and clamps, but the vent itself does not appear to attach to the console.

I have three loose consoles, one from each of the three years for the 1st generation, sitting on a shelf. Two with the vents in place, one missing the vent.  The two that I have with vents have a different kind of vent than you're showing.  Mine sit flush with the side of the console and are louvered.  Both of those have the vent mounted from the inside. There is no evidence of any kind of fastener.  They appeared to be glued in.  The third one with no vent shows signs of an adhesive on the inside - residue from the adhesive and a ring where there is no color. I can post a couple of pictures if you think it woul help.

That is the clamp that I had on my three 1965's.

Consensus seems to point to gluing the vent to the console.  I will break out the glue.
