Got a full wood kit? Haha. We need the lid and assembly for the windshield wiper fluid tank. Do you happen to have that?

You probably know this but there are a few on eBay now and some nice ones pop up for a reasonable price now and then if you have patience.  Best of luck with your project.  Nice big shop!

In the realm of :slots" or "holes" in the bearing for oil-feeding purposes, the slot would be preferable as it would allow more gradual "pressure spikes" of oil to the bearing area.  But for the demands these engines typically had placed upon then, probably NOT a big  deal either way.

The other deal is that such differences could have been a VISUAL identification of which engine got what parts on the engine assembly line.  Especially if the journals might have been different diameters.

It could also be that when the service manual for that model year was being configured, it might have been a consideration to use the slotted or holed bearings, but as the manual items would have needed to be done months prior to the vehicle's appearance at the end of the assembly line, that decision could have been changed after that section of the service manual was authorized.  Which means that when using the service manual as a primary reference source, you might need to go one year back or one year forward, plus cross-checking that information with knowledgeable people, for good measure.

Enjoy!

For any of those wondering and paying attention we have the 263. Currently being rebuilt by Ricks automotive in Santee, Ca. Here's my dad with our new pistons from egge.com. please forgive his unkempt appearance. No time to run a brush through his hair. He couldn't wait to open the package.

Today's progress. We raised the body up in 1997 when my dad started to focus on wood working. Today we brought the body back down. It was held up by channel rails and I-beams, lowered down by block and tackle.

.

.

Does anybody have any leads on full wood kits? We're looking into JB Donaldson in Arizona. It's a shit load of money.... any other hints?

A few more photos. Covid has really slowed us down. We built a sand blasting booth and have been blasting the front end. We have the disc brake conversion kit. Gonna paint the front end 1st, reattach it to the chasis, then put the disc brakes on.
