It is really getting hard to find four straight styled steel wheels. If I really wanted the wide wheels I would consider a good new set of 5X5 15" aftermarket wagon wheels and a nicely polished set of 1980's wheel covers.

It is pretty hard to tell the difference.

The  6 inch wide  15" rally wheel that came out in 1971 and continued through 1978 had a back spacing (3 7/8"). that was 1/2" deeper than the 1969.- 1970 wheels (3-3/8") so naturally they'll sit deeper in your wheel well.  The steel wheels from the same period that came in 5-1/2 and 6 inch widths split the 1/2" difference between the face and the back so there was a 1/4" difference in offset on each side of the wheel.  I would imagine that the difference between the 6" and 7" wheels would be 1/2" per side.  Unless you do like Ted did, the later wheels look too small when placed on a 60's era car.  That one difference (1/2" per side) makes a difference in the way the car corners too.

Here's a chart showing the 15" 5x5 Buick Rally wheel dimensions ( except for the 7" Estate Wagon wheel. 🙁 )

Goldie came with a set of these wheels.  They were mounted with a 1/4" spacer between the wheel and the hub to overcome interference between the wheel and the fins on the drums.  Even so, the outer edge of the wheel just 'kissed' the fins.  I wound-up buying an original set of '67 road wheels from PWB when he switched his Riviera over to deluxe wheel covers.

Did Buick make a 15 x7 factory chrome wheel for the big wagon around 1977 to 1983 ???

The wheel would measure 7 " wide inside of lip to inside of lip with a 5" bolt pattern .

Thanks

Bill
