brettail
Hi i was wondering if any of you guys know if anyone makes a re pop battery tray to fit my 71 Rivi? I have looked hi and low and can not even find a picture of what its supposed to look like. I have the remnants of mine.
Duff71Riv
I have the same problem. Mine completely rusted away and the battery is just sitting on the frame rail. It holds though with battery tie down.

brettail
Do you guys know if there is another car that takes the same battery tray?
RivNut
That's a lot of work to drill out spot welds on two vehicles. It might be easier to do some smooth cuts to what you have and cut a piece of metal to fit and weld it in.
brettail
I guess it really doesn't matter what it looks like under the battery as long as its solid. This is the first car I have ever owned where i can not get every part easily. Thanks guys.
RivNut
Welcome to the world of Rivieras. Rebuilt, rework, redo, replace but don't look for repos. 1
George Buick Riviera
Is this something similar, that could be easily adopted ? http://www.fusickautomotiveproducts.com/ Use search "battery tray" Edited April 24, 2019 by George Buick Riviera (see edit history)
NC1968Riviera
GM part # for 71-72 50-60-80-9000 series battery base/tray is 1238534. None are currently available on Ebay. CARS (www.oldbuickparts.com) has a battery tray for 68-72 Skylark, http://www.oldbuickparts.com/product_info.php?products_id=8997. Maybe this can be retro-fitted? NC1968Riviera
You might try checking the various Buick Parts groups on FB. There have been several 71 & 72 Rivs listed as being parted out. The groups are searchable for keywords.
telriv
Try a tray from NAPA or other parts stores. They are universal, but easier than trying to fix what you have. Just adapt as nec.
telriv
Also forgot to add you should have group #27 battery which is 12" long IF it's a top post battery.
