Guest Jeff west Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 Confused at the stamping of the logo. Possibly a mis-stamped center cap? Or something different altogether? Curious as to what I have?
gwells Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 Aftermarket cap from back in the day. They used 'Fool' rather than 'Ford' most likely to avoid legal action for copyright reasons.
Guest Jeff west Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 I thought it looked like fool. That's funny. At least I'm not one!!!
keiser31 Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 They also made an aftermarket cap with the word, "BOOL" on it. Saved them from the copyright laws.
Dave Henderson Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 Fool or Bool, it just depends on how you read it. I don't believe there is a separate one for each. Rusty because they had a cheap one layer thin flash plating right over the steel. Some were cad plated.
m-mman Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 Sometimes the script word was F88D. This continued into the 1950s onto cheap wheel covers. And yes, always cheap flash plating, never stainless steel. Another way they kept the price down.
caddyshack Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 I have a complete set of screw on Model T caps with the same "Bool" or "Fool" script. J.C. Whitney used to sell these years ago. I have not seen these on Model A caps. Thanks for posting.
41 Su8 Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 I have a complete set of these for a '28-29 Model A. They look like they were never on a car. John
