Guest 1951Olds88
I have read before about the splashes of paint that were dabbed on key items under the hood, but what is this surprise inside my (back) bumper? Due to aging and flaking of the inside layer I am not sure what the first letter was, but what you can see there is ?har. The ? could be C (Char?), or G or O. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advanceStefan
Bleach
Looks like markings made by a used parts outlet.
Dave Mellor NJ
I was thinking it's from a salvage yard. Probably the same thing Bleach mentioned.

Guest 1951Olds88
Thanks folks, as ever the members of this forum come through with useful information. BTW junk yard or used parts, who cares!
whtbaron
If it was destined for a local garage that ordered the part, the last 2 letters might stand for "auto repair". Or if it was a signature for the wrecker, perhaps "auto recycling".
bhambulldog
That's the standard yellow paint marker of the used car factories
joe_padavano
It's a standard yellow paint pen used by EVERYBODY. Most likely is that this is a wrecking yard part. As for "used part" vs. "junque yard" part, one auto wrecker back in Mass. used to have the slogan that "Everyone drives on used parts".
rocketraider
Could be a salvage yard's ID or could be a replater's ID. After all, car IS 64 yrs old!
