seeker....is this the 48 cadi tail fin you saw on the pick-up? It does look like it was cut off a large piece of sheet metal

thanks Doreen

Oh and the black box on the pick up was posted earlier and I was told it was a radio for a 37 buick...not sure how that got back of truck

Yes that's the part.

thanks guys I will post pics of the stuff on the truck..I only posted that to show I do have a light at the end of the parts tunnel! So I'm a little confused on the part that I thought might have been a radio cover or something on a dash. Larry W is that the part you are referring to with the initials? and does anyone know what it is for?

Yes, I think Bleach (#155) may have nailed it.

first of all thank you Larry W for helping out..one question would the quarter panel be for an Olds if it had a Cadillac clip and stamp on the paper?

I think Olds sheetmetal may have been made alongside some Cadillac stuff. They probably just grabbed whatever packaging they had to wrap it. I've seen it a few times before. It's definitely an Olds Quarter.

Looks to be a 1954. The 1955 quarters had a teardrop shaped wheel well opening.

Maybe on 98 models, but 88 and S88's used a teardrop fender skirt in a rectangular opening.

It almost doesn't show a rhyme or reason why but various books showed 98's with the tear drop, most super 88's with the same, and 88's with the square cut as you mentioned. Although I did find a few Super 88's or hoildays with square wheel wells with and without the teardrop skirt. Maybe the manufacture was just trying to use up stock or there was a mid year change.

Doreen;

I'm about 1.5 hours from Old Forge. I grew up in Long Lake, right in the center of the Adirondacks. My sister moved out to tug hill a few years ago.

See if that quarter panel (#179) has a Group#12.940, part #4243649RH. If so, it is for a '54 and '55 Oldsmobile 88 and Super 88 Holiday coupe (2dr http). I believe that's what you have. If it's a part #4243626, then it's for a '54 and '55 Oldsmobile Super 88 convertible. Not sure, but I think only 88 and S88 2DRs used the teardrop skirt.

Seeker why I asked about upstate, I go up to Tug Hill in the winter snowmobiling. A friend has a camp on the hill and when the conditions are good I'm up there every weekend...Love the Adirondacks!

192 looks like a 56 Dodge rear bumper guard or other mopar of very similar vintage. Probably excluding wagon as the one for a wagon is flatter to clear the gate.

191 looks like a 47 or thereabouts Buick Super maybe Roadmaster 4 door sedan rear door fender extension. I think it fits a few different years. Probably atleast 46-48

You can get the bubble by clicking on the "reply with quote" under the post you are replying to. It's right next to the regular reply icon.

Vent windows are going to be tough to ID. They look very similar for many of the manufactures. Especially the ones you posted, which look very typical of Studebaker, GM, Ford and Mopar from the early 1950's or pate 1940's. The one with the ribbed wing lock may be the exception but I haven't seen that ribbed pattern before. Nash used ribbed patterns in alot of their parts. That's a long shot though.

When you read a specific post that you would like to reply to and reference it you just cling on the Reply With Quote found at the bottom of the post you want to reply to. It will create that "Bubble" that you refer to, just like my reply to your question. Scott...
