Buick Gathering In OZ

Had a great day out with some Buick friends at our annual Christmas Run. Good show of cars of from varying years.

Took the '34 along and she behaved flawlessly with the new Carby.

Yes I know you all like photos so here are some for you to enjoy, all Buicks except for an Auburn replica that slipped into the line up (nice car)

The 39 Limited and 58 Limited were 2 of the biggest cars there.

That's a nice collection of cars to get together. And its the beginning of your summer weather.

I was hoping to get to Sydney this February or March, then shifted to the Canary Islands, now shifted to the Caymans. Maybe I'll get back around to Oz.

That's a really nice bunch of cars.

??????

Ben

Ok.........maybe a bit obscure but I think Stuart would have got it.

Rick is a long time friend our ours with the 58 Limited and also has a 66 Wildcat convertible.

Where ever he travelled, when ever possible, it would be with the top down.

Now that he is married the wife is not so keen on driving with the top down.

Brian, I see your '34 is a Holden body car. I have one of these myself, although in very much unrestored condition. I am not sure if the subject has been covered before but maybe for the benefit of Buick owners on the other side of the Pacific you could post some pics of the rear half of the body and also the interior (the interior lights are interesting) to show how different they were to the Fisher body version - maybe as a separate thread. Mine was sold new in Sydney but privately imported to NZ in about 1945. All the NZ new cars were US built. I think the Holden cars all had leather interior and 6 wheel equipment. Interesting though that only the seat facings - the bits that your body touches - are leather, the rest is 'leatherette'.

Yes there are a lot of differences between the Holden Body and the Fisher body.

I did post some photos some time ago but I'll see if I can find them and maybe start another thread as you suggested.

I have yet to see a Holden bodied 34/35 that did not have dual sidemounts. Not saying there wasn't any but seems they would be few and far between.

They were high end cars out here then so marketing with full sidemounts would have been what buyers would have expected (just my opinion)

50jetback, good to see that info re 1934 8/40 production figures. Did they also do some in 1935? I haven't looked at mine for a long time but I think its number is around 1600. Maybe the numbers started at 1000?

1030 Buick 8/40 sedans were produced at Holden in 1935.

This is the ID tag on my 1934 Roadster.
