TexRiv_63
I picked up some interesting knockoff wheel hubs with octagonal pointed ends, 3 3/8" diameter at base and 3 1/2" high, very heavy chrome plated brass or bronze. Anyone have any idea what they are from?
michaelod
My best guess would be from a chariot, Greece circa 400 BC. Saw something similar in the movie Ben-Hur.I could be wrong though...

keiser31
After thinking about the cap more, I realize that American cars had left and right knock-offs, too when it comes to the sort of wheel this goes onto.
drwatson
Nice! If no ID here, maybe a submission to Home - hubcapcollector.com might help.
TexRiv_63
drwatson, that might be a good idea. I was hoping someone would recognize them, I mostly want to know if they are from an older car or newer lowrider wheels...
keiser31
They are definitely old and not new.

TexRiv_63
Grandpa, those are very close with a more rounded shape under the octagon, looks like mine might be aftermarket.

I was stupid enough to think they were very old and valuable so I bought them! Guess they'll wind up as garage art. Howard Dennis

hddennis
Howard, the hubs in your photo are quite different from mine, are you sure they aren't older? They have "Player" stamped into the adaptor and when I Googled it I turned up newly made pieces that look identical. http://www.ogrimsdirect.com/SearchResults.asp?Cat=24 http://www.ogrimsdirect.com/SearchResults.asp?Cat=25 Howard Dennis Edited August 13, 2013 by hddennis (see edit history)
