Barney Eaton
A BCA member in California is looking for an answer about the floor mounted radio control switch. He attached a couple of pictures, one with the switch above the dimmer switch and another picture with the switch about half way between the dimmer button and the power brake bellows.Which is correct? attached are his pictures. stealthbob
The second picture is how it is on my '54...I can't imagine the first picture position being of good ergonomic sense....how many times do you think you would be flashing your lights at on coming traffic when you had to change the station quick! Barney Eaton
Last night I talked to Art Lostumo Jr, 1956 technical advisor. He indicated that the right photo (dark carpet) was the more correct location. He believes many cars had their radio installed at the dealership and the actual location may vary by mechanic. There was probably a paper template but did the mechanic actually use it?Does anyone on the forum know if Buick published an Accessory Installation Reference Manual? I have several from the 1960's published by Chevrolet and they contain the installation instruction for all options, I am looking at a 1964 volumn and it covers Chevrolet, Chevelle, ChevyII, Corvair, Corvair 95, and Chevrolet Trucks. Thriller
Is it possible it differed by series? Or at least the big / small body cars?
buick5563
I'm cool with the footswitch being off by an inch or two (per dealership mechanic's discretion), but pic one (as stated by Stealthbob) would be awkward to say the least.
