Guest 37 L90 Resto
Yes we have a 90 series Limo and it is a 320 . Have looked at two sources and haven't been able to identify engine year. I D # 51304637 above the distributor. Additional sources would be appreciated . Straight Eights are COOL !
Guest DaveCorbin
The engine is a 320 built in July 1948. The number decodes as follows: 5,130,467 is the engine number and the last digit of 7 tells us it's for a 70 series Roadmaster. This info is compiled from Buick factory records.I hope this helps.Regards, Dave Corbin, Fort Worth
Guest 37 L90 Resto
Hi Dave,Thank you very much for the info on the straight 8. We recently acquired this L90 Limo and it is in excellent condition. The previous owner had started a frame off restoration, obviously ran into some problems with the original engine, and this is the engine he had purchased to replace it. This information will be very helpfull in ordering parts and on the installation. If you know of any other obstacles that we will encounter installing this motor into our 1937 L90, we would appreciate feedback. Once again, thanks for your assistance.Cheers, Len & Tracy, Dallas

pplaut
I am having challenges locating the engine serial number on my 1936 Buick. There appears to be a large number behind the starter solenoid. I will have to remove the solenoid to get the actual number. Am I looking in the right location?
pplaut
I think by measuring it, and three bolts on the carb, the engine appears to be the smaller one... which is ultimately what I was trying to find out.

36threewindow
If it's a 233 ci the number will be on the passenger side of the engine near the front (just in front of the access panel) stamped vertical on a flat. You may have to clean the area as a little gunk will hide any signs of it. Good Luck Al T.

sean1997
704676747046767 = sequential number starting at 6,950,620 for 19534 = Series 40/Special, making it an I8 263 (last year for I8)
