  1. The truck is done. I asked about consigning in my post and received good advice. If not sold quickly by word of mouth(we have 2 or 3 interested parties), we are leaning toward BAT if they will accept it. Recent sale at a Mecum auction was the same truck, different color. It went for $140,000. We aren’t anywhere near that on our asking. I’ll post the sale info in Not Mine.
  2. Is it possible for a person short on honesty to buy this and use the necessary parts, VIN tag, Trim Tag, etc. to convert an Eldorado coupe to an Eldorado convert, then try to pass it off as the real deal?
  3. 1960 Impala 4 door hardtop. 283, PG. $300 in 1967. My dad wouldn’t let me buy the 1960 Impala 2 door hardtop with 29,000 miles on it. He would have had to co-sign a loan. Price on that was $450. 1937 Chevy coupe. 450hp 327, tunnel ram 2x4’s, Muncie M22, don’t recall exact reared, but think it was 4:10 or 4:56. Was running C/Gas on the strip with a best ET of 12:29. Same deal as the $450 Impala, dad wouldn’t co-sign the loan. Price on this one was $1000. This was in the late 60’s.
  4. Jon, Having never rebuilt a carb, it was much easier for me to write a check than to waste money & time trying the rebuild myself. ”A man’s got to know his limitations. “ Dirty Harry
  5. No one mentioned anything about whether the carb needs rebushing. My daughter had a ‘69 Impala, 327, T350. Carb needed work when we got the car. Removed the carb, shipped to a carb rebuilder listed in Hemings. Got the carb back, installed it, and only adjustment needed was idle was a little low.
  6. There’s a first time for everything, I guess.😁 Watched some of a recent Mecum auction. It appeared to me that some vehicles that sold were for less money and in better shape than the $29,000 crap that dreamers are trying to sell on Farcebook. Same here, but I’d rather look at the stuff in the car corral than all the tri-fives and plastic rods. (Think MSRA back to the 50’s)
  7. Does BJ get picky about the vehicles they take or as long as you have the money, they’ll take your vehicle?
  8. Used to own a ‘69 Mach 1, same color. Mine was the Super Cobrajet.
  9. Welcome. Lots of good knowledge here.
  10. The driver and all passengers were required to eat the straw(and any cabbage they could lay their hands on) about 1-1.5 hours prior to driving the vehicle. This timing allowed for enough methane produced to travel from 5 to 150 miles depending on number of methane production units (passengers), thus the more production units, the further the travel distance.
  11. The 1970 Full size Chevys had the same bubble in the rear quarters. You can use 1970 quarters and graft most of it to the ‘69 quarters to get the bubble.
  12. They aren’t the original quarters. Missing the bulge-aftermarket.
  13. A good machine shop can deck a block without decking the front pad and removing the numbers. We had it done on a 1966 Caprice Estate Wagon with a 396. If I was in the market, I’d seriously look at this car.
  14. 1966 Impalas had the 396/325hp, 427/390hp, & 427/425hp. No special hood & no way to tell which 427, except by looking under the hood.
  15. A dealer up here in Minnesota has a Hemi Roadrunner on the show floor. He owns the dealership.
  16. I should have mentioned I was planning on listing it here. There's some minor assembly, fire it up & cam break in, cut & buff the paint, clean & detail. Then it's ready. We just have to come up with a price. I did see a '69 CST sold on Ebay this month for just shy of $70K. However it was "modernized"-LS engine, etc. Some at the major auctions have brought over $100K, but I think all the stars & planets have to be aligned, plus you need two drunk bidders with gobs of testosterone.
  17. Pics below. Not quite finished. Should be done next week. 0 miles. First, some mentioned auction houses even though I said I won't do that. I may try BAT, and I'll look into Ebay as someone said, at least for the exposure. FB Marketplace is free, so why not? BUT, no one gave me much information about consigning. How long is the consignment for, terms, percentage of sale to the seller, etc. Someone said Matt or Brass would know. Neither have weighed in, although here's an opportunity for a listing for Matt or Brass (if Brass sells cars on consignment.)
  18. I will be selling a restored 1969 Chevy C10 CST in the near future. Per advice here, I won't be putting it in an auction like BJ or Mecum. BAT looks fairly appealing, and I can always do FB and CL. Not Fleabay. Consigning seems like a possible option, but many questions about it. Fees, length or time it's consigned, who does photos as examples. Would someone care to expound?
  19. I don't like the fact that it's almost 1500 miles away, and it's way too close to the Mexican border. I like my safety. I have 2 others I'll be looking at in spring & may buy both if I get decent prices on them. One is a 1971 350, 4 speed. Original owner. 107,000 miles. $12,000. The other is a 1960 283 four speed. Not original engine, but correct for 1960 engine. Both are good drivers. Haven't got a price on the '60 yet.
