  1. Looking for a chain saw manual in one of my file cabinets a few days ago and came across this program for the 1966 London to Brighton run. Excellent shape and suspect it had to be a reprint but I can find no printing information. 266 cars registered although there is a notation that the police will only allow 250 vehicles to start. Also included is a short history of each of the 99 different makes. Very interesting For Steve M there were 12 Curved Dash Oldsmobiles entered. If our library does not have this it will be going there soon before I misplace it again.
  2. I continue to be amazed by the price of advertising we would have walked by at a swap meet 25 years ago.
  3. I would agree with Mile. I would not touch anything plastic that has to be transported. I would certainly pay $1000-1500 if this were local. Would be very attractive hanging in someone's garage.
  4. For some reason I am intrigued by the build history on the car I posted but have been unable to discover any leads on this car on the internet. Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks
  5. A friend in Amarillo had a couple of ornaments removed from his early cars during an AACA tour several years ago. If you view my collection you will see generic radiator caps on all my Cadillacs. Today anything not tied down may walk off IMHO
  6. On my29 Cadillac the cigar lighter was on the right of center on the dash and the retractable cord was long enough to easily reach the driver
  7. Thanks for the replies. If this is a Tribute effort does anyone have any idea who built it and how it got to Texas. The deceased owners wife has no interest in cars or her husbands museum so I suspect these will find their way to auction in the next five years
  8. If my memory is correct this cigar lighter pulled out of the dash with its power cord attached. Interesting device to keep ashes off your suit pants. If you were driving a Cadillac you weren’t wearing Levi’s
  9. This was on a 29 Cadillac dual cowl phaeton. I was attracted to it as a similar car was my first “frame off” and won the President’s Cup around 1979-80. I had never come across this in my research
  10. You may wish to place a maximum on your fee or use a sliding scale. It is possible more work to sell low priced cars than an expensive desirable vehicle. Disclose everything up front and have a signed contract with the seller.
  11. Saw this recently at the collection of a recently deceased collector whose collection is now permanently closed. A recent addition with no information card.
  12. Would switching to a small LED to reduce heat?
  13. Thanks to all who responded. You have convinced me. This is for my small 20 ft enclosed trailer used to haul small cars and I think 7-8 thousand load capacity should be fine I really like the idea of remote control. Have a happy safe 4th bob
  14. Jim what size did you buy. When I click the Amazon links a 5000 Lb shows up. Thanks
  15. Looking for a replacement winch and notice that about 50% use composite rope rather than cable. Any thoughts appreciated
  16. I had a fuel pump on the shelf and following Matt’s lead I came up with this. Works great! Again thanks to all for the advice and great stories
  17. Thank you to all who replied Great ideas. Heading to Harbor Freight in the morning. Here in College Station the city has a Toxic Waste drop off location twice a year and they accept old fuel and dump it in a large tank. I have no clue what the city does with it.
  18. I have a few vehicles that were sidelined during Covid that I need to remove the old gas and get them running. Recommendations appreciated without removing the tank. Siphon always leaves a fair amount of residual in my experience. Thanks
  19. If I were in the market for a MB I would sign into BaT and set up a search function for whatever model I was looking for. You will receive a email whenever one is listed. It can be very educational as there are many knowledgeable people commenting along with a few screwballs BaT also screens entries so you avoid most of the crap.
  20. I have owned two 380 SLC's for over 30 years. One of the greatest road cars i have ever driven. They do require a lot of maintenance most of which you can do yourself if so inclined. Great online support groups. I would disagree with others on the MB parts support. The bean counters have taken control and the MB parts supply is being exhausted for the older versions. As an example MB can no longer supply replacement pistons or rods for the 380. My long time "indie" will no longer accept new 107 customers because of the parts issue. My bottom line recommendation would be to buy the latest version of the SL. You will enjoy it.
  21. At our annual Blue Bonnet street road show a few years ago a very nice 32 Ford caught fire as it was driving in from a loose fuel line to carb connection. Back then few carried extinguishers and it was totally destroyed by the time help arrived. Needless to say he got the “Hard Luck” award and after that no one was admitted to future shows without a fire extinguisher
