  1. Should mention, if you take the dash out, label wires and cables and refit the dash before painting. It takes some finageling. I had to lower the steering column to reinstall the dash. Don't know if this applies to 57's but it does 55's.

  3. Cap-a-radiator is a 20 min. drive from me. I went there to see if they could help with the A/C in my 55 Roadmaster afew years back. They could not, were very honest about it, charged a small fee for their time. The owner is a nice guy. I would deal with them. At the time he was restoring a 55 Roadmaster coupe.
  4. I believe that missing striated free floating fibre strands, is 2 point judging deduction.
  5. Caught a guy selling pictures of my car on ebay!!
  6. You are talking about bumper filler? I got a set for my 55 Roadmaster from CARS, check for 57. If not, maybe you could use the material to make it work.
  7. Ballpark, how many feet of vacuum line is needed for a 55 Roadmaster?
  8. Thanks Joe.Just found a Service Bulletin Book for $20. Didn't know the book existed. Looks very informative.
  9. Take a look at Old Tank's tutorial. Now is the time to do that.
  10. One more thing, before you replace the intake, vacuum the inlets in the heads for any debris that may have fallen in.
  11. I recently did that job. You have the breather downpipe off off I assume. I did not need to remove the water pump to do this. If I recall the cover can be moved to one side and lifted out the other side. Pretty sure that's how I did it. BTW while you have it off, change the breather filter mesh. Willie "Old Tank" has a tutorial on his page. It is likely clogged with years of accumulated sludge.
  12. You might try http://www.dvap.com Big place in the desert. I have purchased items from them, though nothing as large as a transmission.
  13. Thanks all, Dave you are correct.Spring tension is felt pulling arm inboard. Next question, anyone know what diameter vacuum tubing is used from the fuel pump and dash switch? The stuff is kind of expensive and want to get the right stuff. Thanks
  14. Got to be a small piece of wood so as not to bend the flange the wiper rides on. Is this what's called Camomatic?
  15. Before I break something. How do these wiper arms come off? I tried prying the end but don't want to bend anything. Thanks
  16. As luck would have it, my lawyer says there is nothing we can do about fuel tanks not mounted to a vehicle as this would be classified as experimental!
  17. I happen to like this type also. Whatever type you like, there should be one on every exhaust pipe. Can't tell you how many pretty cars get that semicircular discoloration on the bumper above the tailpipe. I like the through the bumper exhaust setup, but you need to stay on top of that.
  18. My patent lawyer will be issuing a cease and desist writ in the morning as this appears to be a copyright infringement on the "Miracle Fuel Filler Foulup Fixer". What's next? Free milk? You have been warned!
  19. The "Miracle Fuel Filler Foulup Fixer" is available at a supermarket near you,for a limited time with a free 1/2 gal. of milk, regular or 2%.
  20. No vapor recovery pumps here. Even anticipating when the tank is full and slowing the pump down, I still get the "burp". Maybe I should patent the milk container thing.
  21. Minor issue. Whenever I gas up, fuel splashes up out of the tank filler when the pump clicks off. Doesn't matter if it is the kind of pump with the rubber splash guard or not. I have found if I cut the top of a 1/2 gal. milk jug,and put it in the opening(see pic), it at least keeps the gas inside the 1/4 panel and not on the paint. Doesn't matter how I try to regulate the pump when it is near full, I still get a splash. The tank was out years ago to be boiled and sealed. Don't think they messed with the neck.Anyone else have this problem? If so what's the solution? Thanks
  22. Have you tried any yards in the southwest like DVAP? Or consider a tank repair outfit, depending how bad your tank is. Check Hemmings.
