1955 Buick Roadmaster Exhaust Question
Paul Falabella replied to John_Mereness's topic in Buick - Post War
Took a look at my set up. Can't take a pic as oil filter is in the way, used a mirror. It does appear the two pipes are slightly flattened though not excessively and are routed into the exhaust pipe which is larger than the other two in diameter. Also I notice no decrease in performance and I believe the original setup was like this. -

Maybe it's a factory thing like the dash knob circles. Atlanta factory here.
-
Red springs here as well.

Have you tried raising the car to duplicate the noise? -
Need Help Finding Paint! - Garnet Red (1957)
Paul Falabella replied to Brandon Todd's topic in Buick - Post War
Are you sure the interior color was exactly the same as the exterior? The reason I ask is the roof of my 55 is Nile green(X). After much research I figured the interior to be Glacier green, a 1952 color very close to Nile green. Also when you are sure try Tower paint, they will put any color code in a can. -
iPhone Adapter for Original 6 Volt Radio System
Paul Falabella replied to Dan O's topic in Buick - Post War
http://southtexasantiqueelectronics.com Pretty sure the guy's name is Rene. Did my radio 5 years ago, still works great. Used to be a place in Canada that you could send a make and model radio to and they make up a kit so you could recap the radio yourself, don't see them anymore. The only other alternative is get a Sam's Photofacts and recap yourself. I think this guy is worth the price of admission and he guarantees his work. -
iPhone Adapter for Original 6 Volt Radio System
Paul Falabella replied to Dan O's topic in Buick - Post War
Looks like the set up in my 55. A guy in Texas did,Rene, Southwest Radio, maybe. I have a wire that I hook my iPod to with a double ended mini RCA jack wire. No fancy stereo, just the stock radio. When not in use I tuck the wire under the dash. I can recharge the iPod from the cig. lighter, which you would not be able to do with a 6 volt, only difference I can see. -
Wire them to the ignition wires and have them blink in firing order!

1955 Buick Roadmaster Exhaust Question
Paul Falabella replied to John_Mereness's topic in Buick - Post War
Not entirely sure what you're asking, but it appears the exhaust pipe, just aft of the Y/Crossover to muffler, is slightly larger than the two pipes that make up the "Y". Hope that answers the question. -
Chrome shop just called and said the replate, on the rt/pass side lower rear 1/4 chrome trim panel, is not going well. Any leads on a replateable piece? Pic is of driver side,I need pass. side. Thanks Paul

There was actually a little twig in there if you look closely!

Drop the pan. This is what I found when I dropped mine. Didn't have an oil pressure problem either but the pickup was pretty clogged too. And it gives you a chance to make it nice and pretty !

1955 Buick Roadmaster Exhaust Question
Paul Falabella replied to John_Mereness's topic in Buick - Post War
Got an exhaust system on Willies' recommendation last year. Had a buddy with service station put it in. Needed minor adjustments but overall a good product at a good price. No resonator, single muffler. -
Black/Grey/White ADB is shown on the Ditzler chart above.

I love the slope back body also, but you won't have the factory options available on the 55. Tough choice or get both.

I agree with this. In the early 80's I bought a 41 Super. Without thinking, the first oil change I used detergent oil. The formerly quiet engine developed a piston slap. Very expensive oil change.

Curious why you'd consider switching?

1955 Buick Roadmaster Hood Pad Insulation Installation

54 and early 55's had the oil filler in the valley cover. Later cars had two fillers, one in each valve cover as does mine. -

Been told this is correct. Two rods, four round plastic(originally fiber)clamshell cups(from CARS)as shown in pictures. I tried making the rods out of bar stock. Didn't work well. Got a set of original rods. Used a little contact cement as well. -
