  1. Unfortunately you could tell by the way it was parked that it was just somebody's "old car". It's always sad to me that a car like that has somehow survived the last 57 years but won't make it past the next few as a daily driver
  2. Thanks Pete! My preferred tire shop in town carries that tire, I will check them out.
  3. Car is looking great Pete! Can you tell me what type of tires you purchased for her? I'm needing to replace the rubber on the Electra, and that whitewall width looks good.
  4. Very nice shots! I took the Electra out yesterday to take advantage of some of the nice weather we have been having here in the PNW. As you can tell, the leaves have not really turned yet, but the rains are coming so that was likely my last and best opportunity. It was challenging finding trees with any color other than green! The 56 Packard is not mine, nor do I know the owner, but he always leaves it parked on the street in this block as it's his daily driver I believe. Very sharp car.
  5. very nice! looking forward to seeing some pictures of the new acquisition.
  6. Adam, what's the latest on the car? Did the 58 get sold? I'm also curious as to what will replace it in the garage...
  7. Beautiful pics Brian and John! I had both Buicks out this weekend, if only to fix what seems to be a constant stream of problems this summer! Wagon in for front wheel bearings and the Electra's new alternator failed... Here's a couple of pics of the cars together at my garage after an afternoon of wrenching.
  8. Hi John; I have a Diehard Gold battery (Group 24C) in the Electra and it fits well in the tray and works with the hold down (overhead type) for the '67. Nice looking black battery and it's functioned well with limited use. Unfortunately, I don't see group 24C on the Diehard website, but that might be a Canadian thing... maybe 24F? I guess if you want to keep having the Electra judged in Archival, you will be limited to an AC Delco battery. Is your's an overhead clamp or base clamp?
  9. The rally's really transform the car! I, like Keith, prefer the look of white walls and I think those would have looked great with the rally's. I am surprised how much I like the look of the car with the blackwalls though... just gotta keep em clean! Glad you got the PS to stop chirping.
  10. Looks great John! It was great to meet you and Ed in Portland and I'm so glad you had an enjoyable and safe trip back home, and a lot of us appreciate you taking the time to share your photos with us. Take care,
  11. Chris; You could also just have them send an email to Mike and Nancy and they will email a copy of the judging sheet (buickcluboffice@aol.com)
  12. keep tabs on the V8Buick website (link in this thread) as that is being updated regularly... sounds promising and she'll be going home soon!
  13. Man, it looks like the Electra barely fit through that tree! If you had a passenger side mirror, it wouldn't have made it. Glad you're enjoying the trip so far.
  14. Yes, thanks very much to all involved in putting the meet together!
  15. Great news John! I just arrived today with the 78 Estate Wagon (left the Electra at home) and looking forward to meeting you. Sleep soundly
  16. That system is moving up here and was supposed to blow through by tonight... looks like it moving slowly. I may have to rethink bringing the convertible down and just drive the wagon. We will see what the morning brings!
  17. That's a great idea and I'll try and come... the only issue I see is that I'll have my family with me and around that time they will want to be going out for some site seeing, which is why I would prefer the earlier slot.
  18. That's too bad John, and so close too! the silver lining with the delay is you may miss all the rain forecast for Wednesday. Drive safe!
  19. Worked on the buicks most of the weekend getting them ready for Portland. I was able to get the Electra back to ship shape and cleaned up a little and was rewarded with a short 20 mile cruise to and around Stanley Park in Vancouver for the 9 o'clock gun, a nightly tradition in which a cannon is fired at 9pm... historically to call the fishing boats back I think! Lot's of thumbs up as cruised through the City.
  20. Hi John; I will be in town for the Friday breakfast, I will put it on my agenda!
  21. well, I can finally say I got to drive a Buick... it's been a long time and it's cost me a little bit of money but it's done. I replaced the water pump on the Electra some time ago, but ended up breaking a bolt on reassembly, which required the timing cover to come off. Finally I gave up as I couldn't get the distributor out and had it towed to a retired master mechanic. After 2 days, I got to drive the car home today which felt pretty darn good. Quite a bit of clean up to do, but the next sunset drive will be worth. Now only need to get the wagon sorted before Portland... here's a pic of the car getting loaded on the tow truck.
  22. only problem is that it looks like he's got pics of 3 different wagons in the ad... I wonder which photos reflect the current state of the car?
  23. Ouch! That's gotta keep you up nights...
