  1. I just replaced mine with 4 gauge... I was looking for thicker, but that's all they had. No issues at all, and the ones I replaced were 4 as well (new ones looked thinner because of how clean they were )
  2. I think it sounds very good! thanks for posting the video. Congratulations on a job well done and persevering until the end. Worry about the mufflers later and just enjoy the fruits of your labor and stress.
  3. How about a video of the car running? I think we'd all like to hear the roar of the engine to help you celebrate your accomplishment of getting this done!
  4. Thanks Chris! That is high praise considering your fleet of beautiful cars!
  5. We would have a had a more complete group, but because of the rain a few folks were getting out fast. A pair of 66 Wildcats and a 65 Wildcat (dual 4's, 4 spd convertible!). The 65 and the convertible 66 are both original owner cars.
  6. Attended the Puget Sound Chapter's All Buick Open in Puyallup (just south of Seattle) on Saturday. Left bright and early on Saturday morning for the 330 mile round trip. A little over 100 cars showed up a cloudy day. Rain was not forecast, and most of the day was perfect car show weather, but rain showed up by the end of the show and followed me most of the way home. Most I've driven the Electra in the rain. Car performed well, handling the Interstate speeds with ease. A great show seeing and meeting a bunch of really great people! At the end, a few of us stuck around to stage a picture with the big cars, 1961 through 1971 represented (with a few years missing)
  7. Chris; Weather looks to be cooperating this year, and it looks like my schedule will cooperate as well. Currently plan on being there, but will make the decision the night before on what car to take. It will be an early morning on Saturday to get there, but hopefully see you there!
  8. Hi Chris! the Puyallup show is definitely on my radar, but I've been asked to be available for an open house on the same day for a new project I'm starting work on. If I can go, it will be a last minute decision unfortunately.
  9. No long drive for me, but I did finally get the wagon out of storage, changed all the fluids and then a quick wash. Was able to cruise around town to complete some errands... feels like a modern car compared to the 67... not bad for a 40 year old car! The Electra is patiently waiting it's time in the sun, but I was able to polish it up and get her ready after winter a few weeks ago. We had a very snowy winter and a very wet spring up in the Pacific NW, so the cars are coming out a little later... it was very nice to work on the cars in a t-shirt and shorts.
  10. ... and if you have extra room on your electrical panel, I would add additional breakers so you can add as many outlets as possible (1 every 6-feet or so). Lighting, I would go with LED, you have many many cheap options (check Costco for specials), but the extra outlets will allow you to add focus lighting where you need it as time goes on. You can also add fixtures directly over the work bench and laundry areas, either on the ceiling or wall mounted. I would also make sure your main garage lights are set up with 3-way switches, so you can turn lights on/off at the garage door as well as the kitchen door. I didn't do this and regret it every time I enter the garage through the garage door.
  11. This is good info guys, thanks! I'm planning on moving one of my cars shortly and it will likely find it's way to the US. I plan on assisting the buyer by driving it to the border (but not across), so this is perfect info to give to a perspective buyer.
  12. Well, I'm in Canada, but I think things work similarly in the US... I don't think you need any documentation to replace your wheels with something bigger. There may have to be suspension modifications and/or body modifications to make the bigger wheels fit but that's just the cost of adding larger wheels. Of course, in some jurisdictions where safety inspections are required, those modifications may not pass an inspection, but based on the number of old cars with aftermarket, larger rims, I would think it's not that difficult. Once you own the car, you can do what you like as long as it's safe for the road, you do not need a piece of paper from the manufacturer approving a larger wheel.
  13. I don't think you are going to find any factory literature that advises you can install something bigger than was offered from the factory. In 1975, the biggest offered on your car would have been a 15-inch rim (15x6). Here's the specification page from the brochure http://www.lov2xlr8.no/brochures/buick/75_31.html
  14. Interesting... my 78 Estate Wagon has the Buick 350 and it's indicated as and "X" in the VIN. I don't have the vin from the 80 LeSabre anymore, but I'm positive that was a Buick derived 350, as the distributor was in the front. The other 350's available in those years would have been Chev's or Olds, and both would have had the distributors in the rear. I'm not trying to argue, but I find the discussion interesting... would Buick 350's in 79 & 80 model years be a left over motor from the last run in 78?
  15. I always thought 1980 was the last year for the Buick 350. We had a 1980 LeSabre with a Buick 350, and while we didn't buy it new, we did acquire it in 1984.
  16. That looks fantastic Derek! Is that the missing trim pieces I see bundled up in the "way back".
  17. I think with all different registration requirements state to state, province to province, it will be near impossible to find out, particularly with all the new privacy laws. It's strange what you see though, a friend on facebook posted some "fashion" photos from another friend, and in the background was a 67 Electra 225 2-dr. I had to message that guy to find out who the owners were and it turns out the car was in Calgary and he simply saw it in a mall parking lot! The closest I've come to seeing my car in Vancouver, is a 67 LeSabre I accidently came across driving down a street I never go down.
  18. Wow, washing the car in the driveway in January?! Brave soul... it's going to be -7 degrees Celsius tonight, which is cold for us on the west coast. My driveway would be a sheet of ice! Car looks great by the way!
  19. Happy Anniversary! My first ride was in a 67 Wildcat, 4 dr - white with black vinyl roof (brought home from the hospital in it). My Electra on the left, with a friends Wildcat on the right.
  20. Yes, I spared no expense getting them expertly refinished! Only the best! (Thanks again ) A closer look at your handywork, finally on the car.
  21. HaHa... I always preferred "Devil with a Blue Dress" by Mitch Ryder!
  22. The 67 Electra 225 Custom Convertible is 50 years old this week. Build date was 3rd week of November 1966. I've owned this car for almost a third of it's life (14 years) and can't see myself parting with it anytime soon. Has only ever stranded me once (water pump failure) but has never failed to start. Oh I've had to repair/replace/fix a bunch of things, but that's what makes the hobby fun and interesting! Nothing like cruising with the top down and the sunset reflecting off that long hood! Incidentally, the house in the background was built in 1927, so clearly I have a thing for older blue classics...
  23. Thanks John, hopefully California gets some of this, but the "bomb" (as the local weather forecasters are calling it) is heading right for us. We should be fine with the rain, we get so much that the creeks and drains can handle it, but it's the wind I worry about, lots of big evergreens that sway pretty good. Storm watching: just one of the many benefits of living on the Wet Coast!
