  2. Love the V-12 Scripps. Sweet running motors. I have a 1935 26 ft Cruiser. Wife says it's time to do it over. Maybe this will be inspiration!!
  3. Just had this scam happen to a good customer regarding a boat located in NY. Seems on the way to NH to hauler's truck was involved in a crash that totaled the boat. AG's office is involved as well as local and State police. Outcome doesn't sound good. Stay away, far away!!!
  4. I have a 1931 Buick 866s. When it was time for tires, I went with 6:00x 19s in place of the 4;50- 5;00s. Served two purposes. First was better looking stance. Second was it raised the spare mounted mirrors for better view. They only fit in the fender wheels deflated. After a blowout headed for N.Conway N.H., we waited for almost 2 hours for AAA to show up with a Jumper Pak with air compressor to blow up our spare. One of these will be part of our travel kit from now on!!
  5. I use the "Temp Gauge Guy " in Vt. Nice job, good price, and usually quick turnaround.
  6. Roberts Motor Parts or Andy Bernbaum have new ones. hope this helps
  7. Hi Joe. Met with friend Jeff today. He pulled up a picture of a Watkins engine on "Old Marine engines.com. He doesn't have a flywheel in his library of parts. We learned that Watkins made engines for canoes. I knew a gentleman from The N.H. Boat Museum Who had several canoes restored With Inboard motors, but I believe he passed away a few years ago. Maybe check the Old Marine engine site, N.H. Boat Museum, or the boat museum in Clayton N.Y. Hope this helps. Dave
  8. I have a 38 truck and the lights on it are larger than what I believe are correct. If you have time please post a picture. Thanks
  9. I have talked to Don. He doesn't have anything presently. Thanks for your reply.
  10. Thanks for your reply. My bucket has the slim chrome rim on the bucket. I think yours are later.
  11. I have two different headlights on my 36 LC pickup. Drivers side has about 8 inch lens and passenger side is about 7.5 inches. I think the smaller one is correct, so I am looking for a driver side light in the smaller version. All leads greatly appreciated. Thanks Dave
  12. I have used the "Temperature Gauge Guy in Vermont several times. Very reasonable price. Sent the temp gauge to him same time as my ampmeter to Bob's. That was back in April. Recieved it back less than three weeks. Ampmeter is still at Bob's. Last call still had no ETA.
  13. Thanks for your reply. I have had many great seat miles in this car. I really like driving it. This problem came on out of the blue on a short trip to breakfast. If I hit a rough patch, the steering wheel goes into a violent shake until I stop the car. I explained the problem on the general forum, hoping for some help. I'll keep looking.
  14. Thanks for your reply Mark. If I hit a rough patch of road, The steering wheel begins to shake violently until I almost come to a complete stop. Over the winter trying to find some thing loose in the front end, I found with the axle off the ground, when I shake the front wheel left to right, These springs move quite freely back and forth. By description the springs should be very stiff. When I first experienced this I removed the cotter pins from the castle nut retainers and could tighten the nuts by hand. There is a spec for there adjustment to center the axle in place. The retainer nuts can be tightened far beyond the measurement before they snug up. King pins are tight. tie rod ends ok and I have tightened up the drag link as directed. There is no more than normal play in the steering box. Not sure where else to look. It came on suddenly after many pleasurable miles
  15. I have a 1931 Buick 866 coupe. I posted awhile back about problems with front end shimmy. I believe the shock eliminator on the left front of the frame may be weak. The book I have says these are very stiff springs. They should be checked for correct tension. I have not any specs for this tension. I have searched the Master list and have not found a part number or even a reference for the springs. I would like to replace them , but i'm at a loss to find anything. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks Dave. P.S. I posted this on the Buick Prewar site also.
  16. I have a 1931 866 Sport Coupe. I have been having trouble with front end shimmy. I have traced it down to the shock eliminator on the left front of the frame. The spec book says to make sure the springs have proper tension. I haven't found any spec on "proper tension" other than they should be very stiff. I would like to replace the springs. I have been thru the parts guide several times and can't come up with a part number or even a reference to them. Looking for any thoughts or ideas for where to find replacements. They look like valve springs, but don't no how to gauge them. Thanks Dave
  17. Hi I'd like to buy the coil with bracket pictured inside the belt. Do you have the keyswitch and cable that go with it? Thanks Dave
  18. I'll check my book tomorrow. Thanks for the reply
  19. I need the pieces that go thru the floor.
  20. Looking for the parts and pieces to put the starter pedal back on the floor as original. Would take a starter , any condition also. Thanks Dave
  21. Looking for starter pedal and linkage for 1936 Dodge pickup. Want to put it back to original on the floor. Could use the starter too, used or recon , or what you have. Thanks Dave in N.H.
  22. Love the movie. I grew up in Plaistow, about twenty minutes south. Now live in the lakes region. We went on a Christmas walk there last year. The center of town looks the same, shy of the dated cars. Pretty city.
  23. I have been fighting with a death type wobble on my 31 866 coupe. Over the winter, I tightened wheel bearings, drag link ends, steering box. Kingpins are tight with no play. Today I had my garage guy put it up on his lift. Only play seemed to be in the "shock eliminator" when we shook the wheels back and forth, there seems a lot of float in the axle stemming from that piece. We tightened the bolts about two turns each, which looked to make things better. I checked the measurement as the service manual says. My measurement is about 3 3/8 now. Spec should be 3 17/32. My question is what kind of tension should springs have, and are there any replacements available. A short test ride did not show much improvement. Any thoughts appreciated. Thanks Dave in N.H.
  24. I belong to the antique outboard group. They turned me on to cleaning original motors with WD40. Doesn't bother the paint. Works good with soft brushes or micro fiber towels. Leaves a nice protective finish when done. I like them original and this works great. I have used this method on my old cars for hard to reach spots and small parts. Hope this helps. Dave.
  25. Thanks guys. I'll try to get my local tire guys to get it up on the lift to check further. I have asked about wheel balancing, and they tell me there is no way for them to do it. I know about the wheel studs for that purpose, maybe I can get them to spin balance on the car. I assume that is still possible.I'll keep working on it. Dave
