  1. larger wheels does not mean larger diameter tires, but I have not checked the tire size and done the math to see if there is a diffrence. I will check this evening if no one else chimes in on it.
  2. Just to chime in and add a little some thing. Oil pan gaskets are not too difficult to do on your own. I do have two suggestions: use felpro perma-text (this is a pre-formed silicone gasket and comes with four screw-in holders, that make life a whole lot easier): two invest in a $25 dollar torq wrench from your local parts store. The cost of doing simple tasks on your care is minnimal compared to paying a shop. Unless your time is worth more than $60+ per hour.
  3. I will be here until mid March
  4. What can I say, a cold beer and a wrench are a better match for my weekends of being stranded here than a shot of wiskey and a bunch of hot flirtatious twenty something girls. Pluss Uncle Sam doen not pay enough to keep me in a "decent" night club around here. Any one think I am crazy yet? I just may be. Let me expand the offer to the Baltimore area.
  5. I can only party so much, and there is not many places to go during the day, at least ones I have not already been to.
  6. Any one here in the DC area? I am here for a military school and have nothing to do with my weekends. I have worked on a car or two and am having withdrawls from my own Reatta. Pluss it would be cool to meet up with people from the forum. All you have to do is provide the tools and place to do the work (wich even a shade tree would work as far as I am concerned). My other options are to waste the weekends watching the tube or wasting money on things to fill the time. Any way like I said free labor!!!
  7. go to reatta.net and do the brake test then report back to the forum
  8. KDirk Yes, on the CV shatft between the joint is what I am talking about. The 91 manual does not show this that is why I am wondering if it is on the 91 Reatta. Also it may be because of the tranny being change to the E version. Like I said I am using the one from a Eldarado and have not had any negative results as of yet, but bear in mind that I am running a series one SC motor which is not fully tuned as of yet. That will be finished once I leave the DC area in a couple months. I will continue to work on the strut issue also, 180 seems a bit steep. May be I can find an odd ball military part that would meet the use.
  9. OK answered my own question. So on to the next question. Does the 91 have a cylyndrical build up on the pasenger side CV shaft? According to partsamerica the 91 passenger drive line is diffrent from the 88-90. Also the 91 passenger side is the same as the 91 Eldarado an others. I am using one from a 91 Eldarado, which has the build up on it. I have an 89'. Every one that I have spoke with about the build-up says it is most likely a "vibration dampener". So if the 91' Reatta does not have the dampener on the CV joint, this may be a viable solution if a strut can not be found. One last thing. The Eldarodo does not have a strut assembly.
  10. Is the strut on the 91's? If not I may have a solution that I already did on my car.
  11. Thanks Jon I missed that, I was kind of in a hurry
  12. The dampener is a gas strut, it should hold in one position and return to that possition if compressed or expanded. If it does not or does but very slowly then it is most likely wore out. I have not found were to buy a new one yet, but I am thinking a new one might only be available from GM.

    LIGHT SHOW

when you pull up on the handle does th dome light come on?
  14. Dave, Yes you can do the aux input and take out the tape deck, but you must be able to plug the tape deck in if you ever lose your battery. This is so the radio will reconize that there is a tape player there, after it reconizes it once the radio will allow you to press play at any time and use the aux in. I am going to try to make the tape player controls control my DVD player, but that is a little while away.
  15. http://forums.aaca.org/ubbthreads.php/ubb/showflat/Main/92072/Number/393549#Post393549 Here is a post with a couple ideas and what some people have done with the tape/stereo. I am also working on a post to use a newer radio brain to improve the sound quality of the 88-89 Reattas, without losing the touch screan functions. As for adding a MP3 player, that is extremely simple in theses cars. Use a portable player and th modification is barely noticeable. Our radio brain box has two sets of aux ins. One is used for the tape player and one is open. The on that is open will override the sigle from the tape deck when it detects a signal. To install the second aux in: 1. find a 95 Regal custom in a junk yard. 2. remove radio harness that runs from the Regal radio control to the radio brain behind the glovebox 3. go to radioshack and purchase a panel mountable female 2.5 mm headphone jack and double male ended cable 4. attach wires from the aux haness to the jack (our radios are labled so finding the correct three wirs is simple, you are looking for +R aux, +L aux, and common or ground) 5. drill a small hole in the ashtray area or side of the counsel and mount headphone jack. 6. plug double male cable into newly mounted aux jack and into your MP3 or any other 2.5 mm audio device. 7. insert a gutted (no tape) tape into player and press play
  16. Sorget the 427, just grab the whole under carage from a Z06 vett and put you Reatta body on it. This would probably be less work. PSSSST I am realy thinking about doing this sometime. Along time from now.
  17. What part of the exhaust are we talking? Autozone has a direct fit cat. any thing else I would just have a muffler shop do, unless you have a welder and pipe bender.
  18. Not if it was the cruise line. It is not regulated to kick on the cruise until cruise is set.
  19. Vaccuum line to Cruise and a wet or loose plug on trany.
  20. I would buy it on the spot. Think to yourself, 68,000 for a car that is 15+ years old, just make sure all the electronics work and the speedo/odometer is working. One last thing make sure the car has not been in any major wrecks.
  21. I wish some one would produce it or at least something like it. Meaning some thing with great looks and flowing lines
  22. ???????? what does buick have to do with this? other than producing the concept car 50 years ago? Correct me if I am wrong. This is a "kit car" not a production or even a thought of a production, just a kit car that you bolt or have them bolt on to an other cars frame. But it is a very nice looking car. CLICK ON THE "PRODUCTION PROCESS"
  23. I would say to check the wire connector in the back of the CRT. There are two connections, one for the screen, and one for the buttons/touch sensor.
  24. I have had an alarm in for over two years now and have never had any issues with lossing anything. Who ever said you would must not have been very informed. I did not even losr the use of the factory remote or security system.
