  7. I bought a Permite 663 P set of pistons and they do not fit a Studebaker. Does anyone have a Permite catalog to see what it fits? I also trying to find out what a Jahn's 4-200 TD .30 over fits the 4 in the number probably refers to the number in the set(4). I appreciate any help with this. Robert Kapteyn
  8. It could be that the varnish on the dash is holding it in
  9. John Before you have other parts made check with Burk Automotive 602 276 1379. He makes a lot of parts for the Big Six. Bob

  12. Sorry that you still did not find an I.D. You should try to post this picture on individual groups such as Chrysler. Ford etc. Most people on these groups do not check this forum. Robert Kapteyn from Joliet Illinois
  13. The 1930 Erskine is identical to the 1930 dictator They are both called the Model53. The earlier Erskines were completely different cars. In 1930 Studebaker decided to use Studebaker engines in the Erkines. Half way during the Model year they decided to drop the name Erskine. Left over cars were rebadged Studebaker. Robert Kapteyn
  14. In 1927 the dictator used the same valves for intake and exhaust.120048.(V 52) In 1928 they went to a larger exhaust valve.(1 1/2")(S415) Egge 1 800 866 EGGE lists these.Call for price.
  15. Stude 8 .I read your very interesting post on the 1928 Studebaker Perrot brake system. Bendix bought the rights for the Perrot system in 1924. I can not find any references in the parts books other than a note on an update sheet dated August 1928 that Studebaker does supply complete brake systems but to contact the Wahl Company in Chicago for individual parts. I think that most earlier cars had 2 wheel brake systems and did not need the Perrot. Studebaker designed a simpler system for later cars. I saw a box at a swapmeet once that had a complete inventory of the individual parts from Bendix for the Perrot system , used on a variety of cars. Robert Kapteyn
  16. I would not use any lubrication on a tapered shaft. Before putting the key in,I would apply some very fine grinding compound on the shaft and tun the hub, held on by the nut but still loose enough to turn the hub for a while and after removing the hub again ,checking to see if there high spots. Clean the shaft very good with solvent and assemble dry. Robert Kapteyn
  17. The MAW 4020 fits the 1941/42 LHC. cars. the MAW4015 FITS THE 1938-40 COMM.and the R.H.C. 1941. This is a very hard to find starter and your best bet would be to have your old one rebuilt. If you need a core let us know. I stock most parts to rebuilt your old one, Robert Kapteyn studebaker@mac.com
  18. You keep referring to your 1925 Studebaker as a Baker. Baker Electric used to make electric cars and is entirely different. Steven Munts 509 924 4572 remakes the window cranks and many other parts for your car.Steve is getting up in age and I hear he is slow at times. Bob
  19. Egge does not list Studebaker on their website. There were three engines in 27. What model is yours?
  20. There were many styles, all with different mountings. I have several styles. What year are you looking for? Robert Kapteyn studebaker@mac.com

Dave was a tireless promotor of Studebakers. He organized our chapter and was Newsletter editor for many years. He will be sorely missed. Robert Kapteyn
