  1. Hursst, I'm trying to avoid shipping the magazines and would like to see some lunch money out of them. Thanks for your thoughts. Harold
  2. Glad to hear you got the bugs ironed out and you're on the road.
  3. The US government used sedan deliveries well into the 1970's. They were station wagons with a factory-installed load platform instead of a rear seat. I bought and sold several of them, with the newest being a '76 Plymouth small Fury (B-body).
  4. I use recycled items for packing whenever possible. On the rare occasions that I sell and ship a car brochure or magazine, I make a backer board from cut-down cereal boxes. I use the large-size Kellogg's boxes (Frosted Mini Wheats and Frosted Flakes as found in Costco/Sam's Club/BJ's). That cardboard is very thin and very strong. When shipping 3-dimensional items, I wad-up clean plastic grocery bags and use them instead of plastic peanuts. Better for the environment and better for me!
  5. The '51 Plymouth business coupe went for $7,800.00. WOW! Kinda makes me think my same-but-completely ratty rockerless '51 must be worth $5K. Barrett-Jackson syndrome at its finest!
  6. When I worked at an Olds dealer, the owner would drool every time we got a night-drop of a new car. It seems like none of them ever had mats or wheelcovers for some reason.....
  7. Selling my collection of Practical Classics magazine, a well-written British publication with excellent how-to articles and informative features on many different (and some obscure) UK vehicles. These magazines are printed on heavy gloss paper and weigh a lot compared to others. I have 69 issues from 1994-1999. They are generally in excellent condition from our non-smoking pet-free home. $75.00 firm for all, picked-up in or near Freehold, NJ 07728. Thanks for looking, Harold

  9. You can also remove rust by electrolysis. Lots of info on the web, here's one link as an example: http://antique-engines.com/electrol.asp
  10. I'm bulking-out my collection of Plymouth Bulletin magazines, about 150 of them give-or-take, from the 1980's to the present. $50.00 gets them all. Most are in excellent condition, with some that are wrinkled courtesy of the Post Office. They're pretty heavy and I don't want to get involved with shipping them. I'm in Freehold, NJ 07728 so if you're close (or don't mind some driving) these are a great deal. Send a PM if you're interested. Thanks! Harold

  12. In the past few years, 98% of the stuff I list on eBay as an auction goes for the opening bid. I find that setting a realistic price on a BIN works just as well, plus you get a 30-day exposure instead of a few days. The days of 'bidding wars' are over, in my opinion.
  13. When I sold new Fords in the 1980's a new Tempo came in with substantial roof damage. Ford paid the dealer for a proper repair, but the sales manager took the cheap way out and had a pop-up roof installed instead, with lots of filler around the edges. The problem was that the pop-up was installed very far forward to match the location of the roof damage and in the process the dome light was eliminated. The car was on display in the showroom and I told a prospective buyer about the roof and lack of dome light...….he bought the car anyway!
  14. The way to get to the closed auction you're looking for is to click on the word 'listing' at the top of the screen of the item they want you to see. That word is in a different color and is a link to the original item that ended.
  15. Several times in the past few weeks I've had people write to me graciously offering to buy my items at far below my opening bid or Buy-It-Now price. One guy who wrote during an auction wrote again about 3 minutes after the item ended with his same lowball offer 'since it didn't sell'. Are others noticing an upsurge in this type of behavior?
  16. Nice condition and cheap! $11.00 postpaid in the lower 48 States. PayPal is fine. Thanks for looking. Harold

  18. Have you checked the plastic air intake 'accordian' for cracks? That could be affecting the air/fuel mixture.
  19. How about $12.00 postpaid in USA? After the dust settles, I'll see about $5.00 for it, and you'll have a useful repair book.
  20. The Sears near our house used to be a two-story 'anchor' store at one end of a large shopping mall. A few years ago, the upper floor was turned into a Primark clothing store. The remaining single-story Sears has 'loosely packed' inventory spread over a large area to give the illusion of a well-stocked selling floor. It's really a shame that the chain is going under slowly but surely. They already had the infrastructure to succeed as an internet retailer (catalogs, shipping, etc) but they fumbled it. Sears used to be a powerhouse retailer. Those days are gone. Back in the 1970's, JC Penney came out with a car battery that had a lifetime warranty. When they got out of the automotive business, Penney's had to pay other retailers to honor whatever battery warranties were left. Going forward, I suspect that retailers of Sears-derived brands like Craftsman will be required to honor the warranty of products bought at Sears.
  21. Here's a Haynes repair manual covering '78-'90 Dodge Omni and Plymouth Horizon. Well-used but complete. $11.00 postpaid by Media Mail in the lower 48 States. PayPal is fine.
