Picked up this 1964 Monogram 40 Ford truck for the rims and hubcaps to put on the same era 34 Ford kit but if I can find a blue bed might not take any parts off it and leave it alone, was told the flatbed is from a 34 Ford kit and do have a later released red bed but hoping to find a correct blue bed. I have a unbuilt 34 coupe kit that I want to build as a early 50s hotrod using all early 60s parts but this truck is just too nice to take apart.

Kind of scary in the junkyard today
junkyardjeff replied to junkyardjeff's topic in General Discussion
Yes they have cows. -
Kind of windy in Ohio today but did not let that keep me from going, well while I was getting the wiper switch out of a 65 LTD 4 door hard top I heard two trees fall so I went to look at the cars in the more open areas for the other parts I needed. No parts to be found there and wanted to to the back lot that is more wooded but cut the trip short. Lots of old trees in that junkyard and many have fallen in the last few years and one tree fell and killed a cow they had so will try again another day.

Speaking of small car restoration, Matchbox anyone?
junkyardjeff replied to ericmac's topic in Scale Automobiles (Models)
I have a few rough ones that I repainted and added more detail to. -
Working on the AMT 60 Ranchero that came with a big block and no shock towers so since I picked up a correct six.I cut the shock towers out of a Mustang and trying to get it to look more like a Falcon under the hood. The parts I used are not that detailed but will look more correct then the way it came.

Found most of the missing trim at a old junkyard yesterday and today while going through the garage I found a 2 speed wiper motor and wiring harness so all I will have to get is the switches. Also found door lock cylinders it was missing and will have they key made to fit them, found a good section of the trunk floor it needs and will cut it out in a couple weeks.

What other manufactures offered one speed electric wipers
junkyardjeff replied to junkyardjeff's topic in General Discussion
Checked my recent 65 Galaxie purchase and it does have those horrible one speed wipers so off to the junkyard to get 2 speed parts over the winter. -

It only took a couple drives in the rain to get me to convert to two speed wipers, those single speed wipers are terrible with light rain. -
I do have a 4 door that can be a donor for the frame but I think it can be repaired,I need to see if patch panels are made for the quarters but have all winter. I will most likely save it as I know there are none locally that are any better that are reasonably priced,I have seen people trying to get over 3000 for a 4 door with a rusty frame so I think I done real well for 500 dollars.
-
I planned on using it for a drivetrain donor on a better body but the frame is not as bad as I initially thought so if I do not find anything over the winter I will try to save it. The floors are good and the rust in the trunk floor is near the rear body mounts and found one in the local old junkyard that is good in that spot snd found one in another junkyard that has the trim pieces its missing and will be grabbing those parts next weekend.

This car came from the factory painted Acadian blue with a blue cloth and vinyl interior but now has a red vinyl interior and is in primer,30 years ago I seen a mint one sitting in front of a union hall in Springfield Ohio in that color and interior so I looked at the title and that is where this car came from. I hope its not the same car as the one I seen years ago was very mint and looked to be a 20,000 mile car,the mileage on it is a little over 49,000 miles and the numbers are all in a straight line so it could be correct but it had a rough life and can not imagine someone doing that of its the same car. If it is someone turned it into a daily driver and ran it to death.

Had one for my first car and have wanted another since it got totalled in 1980,I had a wagon and have a 4 door but I have to have another 2 door hard top. Its kind of rough and hope to find another rolling shell but ot could be fixed if I can not find another that is better. 390 4 bbl and power steering,it has the original heads and intake but not sure of the block since it has a later C-6 trans and a later harmonic balancer.

A local junkyard has a 40 Dodge with most of the front clip still there. -
Let’s see your period correct aftermarket accessories
junkyardjeff replied to Alex D.'s topic in General Discussion
I personally think all period accessories should be allowed without any point deductions since technically the dealer installed are not factory installed, yes I know they are not manufacture approved but still did not come off the assembly line with them so to me no big deal. -
Anyone ever fix one of these broken convertible top frames??
junkyardjeff replied to Ovalrace25's topic in General Discussion
I would try to find another part first, since alot of force was needed to brak the part it might not be straight.. We havw a 55 Dodge convertible at work that has some parts that have been welded and can not get the top to fit right and I think ots from the once broken parts. -
I have a 63 that I will be working on that the top blows up like a balloon going down the highway, they want me to install a new top since they think it was installed wrong but those years do not have a listing made into the top to keep that from happening so I told the manager that the new top will eventually do it again. It has to be a cloth top and those are worse for doing that so does anyone know if there is a solution out there,I kind of have one in mind but not sure if there could possibly have the top material get pinched when the top folds down with the material close to the top frame.
