  1. After I last posted I remembered that I bought a battery powered weed eater that only came with one battery, the price of the battery is almost the same price as another tool that has a battery.
  2. The battery powered tools give one more freedom to work but one has to think about battery life and replacement costs,if the tool manufactures would use the same batteries for many years it would not be a problem but I have found the higher end tool manufactures (Snap on etc) have a tendency to change forcing people to have to buy a new tool and the battery costs almost make it cheaper to buy a new tool.
  3. Trans needs to come out for synchronizers and solenoid, just need to find a long enough drive shaft to cut down so I can put a regular 3 speed until the overdrive gets repaired. The breezeway sedan has a 3 inch longer wheelbase or I would have a driveshaft since the local old junkyard has a 65 Galaxie with a 3 speed.
  4. Had to come out due to holes in the quarter panels and did not want the fumes sucked back up in the car, since no patch panels are made I will start looking out west for panels.
  5. It took me a couple years of asking around and checking shops to finally find someone to do it at a reasonable price,I had to go about 40 miles to get it done.
  6. I would have been around 3 to 4 years old when this kit was made,I presume it's 64 or 65.
  7. It's hard to imagine it sat around over 50 years before being built and I have another mid 60s kit to build too.
  8. This one came today,it's a glue bomb and needed engine parts the other one is missing,it's glued heavily and parts were starting to break trying to get apart.
  9. I have some mid 60s models that need restoration and boxes of partially built models I will eventually get to,this is not all I have.
  10. It was apart when I got it and missing parts, making it look like a work in progress project.
  11. Thinking about restoring it and painting it close to the color of the 53 I had.
  12. Found a larger Budgie double decker bus and a 53 Olds in promo size that is made of aluminum.
  13. It's too new for me,now if it had a 60s or older car I could use it.
  14. The third one arrived today and this one will be used for parts,I need the engine and the unused rims and hub caps for a all 60s era kit bash on a Monogram 34 Ford. I am going to find a later version chassis to put under this 60s body since the front axle was glued in wrong and had to damage the rear to get the wheels off.
  15. I can see a 8 year old car being junked today with all the electronics and other things that can go wrong and fewer people that would know how to work on them but not a 8 year old car in 57 when everything was simple and cheaper,I guess that growing up not having much money and having to make everything last longer could give me this attitude. I try to not participate in the throw away society.
  16. I bring cars back from the dead much older then that Buick was all the time.
  17. I fix my cars, for me it's cheaper to fix them to replace but I do all of the work myself.
  18. I most likely one of the few that drives 30 plus year old cars for daily drivers but to me a 5 to 8 year old car seems new to me and no way would even think to send a 5 to 8 year old car to a junkyard unless it got wrecked, times have changed where used cars are worth way more then back then and new cars are very much more expensive too but would think if I was alive back then I would drive them much longer.
