Grant you say when you assembled the engine.when you did this did you balance the moter? I say that because when i rebult my 1940 320 engine i didn't listen to my freind and didn't balance it.Same problem I called doug seybold (440-835-1193) and (after i told you so)He help me fix 95 percent of the vibration by putting small bolts in the flywheel to offset the balance.it still vibrates but i can live with it till next time i rebuild it.I am not saying that is your problem but it was a quick fix. good luck. Ron i brought a 6volt fan for my 1940 centure from a place in RI he advertised in old cars weekly about 2 times a month.After doing everthing that was memtionedit still ran hot at very slow parade speed.Anyone who knows me knows i drive mine all over this beautiful country up the highest mountings.Point i am makeing is when i hit the fan switch it cools it down to 180degres from190.so what i am saying while you are theare put the fan ON. Well up here in Massachusetts you are better off with vanity plates. If we put antique plates on the car by law we are only allowed to use them on Sundays are to and from a parade. Vanity plates are little more expensive but there's no harassment with them. Have a great Buick day Frank
