  1. Interesting...that's higher than I would have guessed...just goes to show what I know. I guess you need to sell a couple more of those green tractors to pay for it. The Feb. Old Cars Price Guide (whatever it is called now) lists #4 - $5k #3 - $11.25k #2 - $17.5k #1 - $25k
  2. Whimper...in the long run I would like to have a turbo car. Right now I just don't have the space. Good luck with coming to a decision. My suggestion would be that if you don't need the money nor space, keep it. Driving it relatively little won't hurt it so long as you do exercise it a bit and keep up with regular maintenance. That will help to maintain some of the value due to it not being a car that has been driven into the ground. I know how you feel about not getting a car out enough...I am now up to 6 drivers (5 last summer) and I find I can't give them enough exercise.
  3. Mike - they are the same as the Invicta, so I'm guessing that could be the route to go. Someone (possibly CARS) had them listed, but more money than I wanted to spend...however, I have 2 convertibles and one good set of latches.
  4. Whimper...I guess I've got to get active on V8Buick again as soon as I can find some time...my wife didn't fit the styles Rick had left in what she liked when I got my WOT shirts, so it is time to see what his stock is like again.
  5. Cool...thanks for that. 100,000 cars almost 90 years ago...and the city isn't much more than double that population today...intriguing.
  6. Bill, you gotta stop toying with the lad... I mean, he's going to start thinking all Wildcats come appointed like that...or could it just be those rare GSs? I've probably asked before, but is that code F paint on that car? That's what mine is, and it looks similar, but computer screens and digital photos can skew colours a bit.
  7. I love the pay grade line...beautiful.
  8. Welcome aboard Stewie. A lot of folks wouldn't take on a jigsaw puzzle like that. You have my admiration for taking it on. There are folks on here with 50s, so you aren't alone.
  9. Really, it isn't that big...it's not much heavier than my '52 Roadmaster and it is in the garage with the Wildcat right now and seeing them side by side, it isn't a drastic difference...yes the Electra is longer, but not by leaps and bounds.
  10. Man, that takes me back 20 odd years back to first year engineering. It is correct that because the air needs to flow around an object in the way (like a bar on a grill), at high speeds, it creates an area of high pressure in front of the impediment - if the geometry is such that the bars are close enough together at sufficient speed, the air will act as if it is hitting a solid object. Aerodynamics can be really interesting. That may be why the grill design on '39s had a running change to fewer bars...it may have been creating this issue. As an experiment, I'm with the others who suggest taking the grill parts off to see if it makes a difference. At least then that might help to verify whether or not you are having an air flow issue.
  11. Not so much surprised, especially since you are the one who brought the term "fart cannon" to this forum. The more I see and hear those, the more annoyed I become...that's when it is nice to have a big V8 with gobs of torque on tap to show them that you can be pretty quick in over two tons and be nice and quiet about it, albeit perhaps with some rumble.
  12. ROFLMAO You guys. Freedom is preferred over a restrictive bra...at least there should be fewer bugs at this time of year as compared to the trip to Ames...I think Suzanne may have to follow the trailer in the Electra to let the truck clear a path. Dan...who needs migrant workers? I'll probably just get a trunk monkey.
  13. Les, If you have the car at the Spring Extravaganza May 2, I'll try to make sure to introduce myself. I'll have the '75 Electra with Manitoba plates.
  14. Chuck, You were told 6 times already it is DAS Dependable Auto Shippers and...blah blah blah.... Sorry, I'm back now...I had my other temporarily disabled personality on the go. Frankly, anyone wanting that kind of money for a car should be a bit friendlier and easier to deal with...why would you put that car up on multiple web sites if you were only going to deal through one? Bob - did you ever get an engine shot? There's a red Roadmaster convertible in the Twin Cities area, but it had a unique intake / air cleaner. I have photos on the old computer...don't recall if it had this colour of top though.
  15. If you happen to remember the address, I'd like to do some searching around. I've always wondered what was built in the different plants. There was a presence here in Winnipeg with carburetors. So far as I know, back in the day, Buicks were all built in Oshawa. Walkerton built engines. I generally try to avoid Regina...it's kind of a necessary evil getting back to the home country though. I might even tour through some time just to see the old plant. I grew up about 40 miles north of Saskatoon, where the water was always good....
  16. The MTS Telephone Pioneers have a Pontiac truck...if I remember correctly, it is a 1926.
  17. Mitch Romanoski - advertises in the Bugle classifieds.
  18. Well, you should. I don't need to because I only have bronze cars....
  19. If I remember correctly, it was either a Pontiac or Oldsmobile engine.
  20. So, did Mike shave specifically for this event? These are the sort of questions we need answers to....
  21. Crank hole covers are hard to come by...I've been quietly looking for one for a few years. There's a fellow in Australia who is considering making reproductions out of stainless steel. There are multiple hub cap styles and, just so you know, the 20 series (or 116 Series) cars have a smaller diameter hub, so take a smaller cap. That was expensive knowledge to acquire.
  22. Congrats Rick...nice...but like a car, are they ever truly "done"?
  23. Do you know what Roberta drives? Your Cougar will look like it is standing still if you try to outrun her. I mean, look at her avatar for crying out loud. Now, I think the Wildcats will all be a little bit old for you, speaking of cougars. You may want something more like a Reatta, the end of the line GN / Regal T-types, or possibly a Riviera...something sleek and sophisticated, but still beautiful. Now, if I recall correctly, you are taking engineering...if so, forget about those wild cats, concentrate on the studies, and one will find you in due course. Patience is a virtue...at least that's what us old guys like to say.
