Hold the presses! I'm incorrect. I just went to get a picture of that tube to post and it says right on it, NOT FOR USE WITH RADIAL TIRES. It's been so long since I've seen the tubes I cannot say for certain what the radial tube looks like. Perhaps you should check with the place you got them from, to make sure they are radial compatible?
-
It's tough to tell from the picture on the tube site, but my radial tubes have a diagonal pattern to them. Hundreds of diagonal lines very close together. I didn't see any such lines on the tubes in that picture.
As for the rims, the rivits should not leak air. And the tires go flat because the valve stem is not pressed into the rim, and the air can leak past it.

I have radials on my 56, and three of them have tubes. I bought these in 2003 when I put a set of wire wheels on my car. When I went back to steel rims I used the tubes so they would not dry rot.
I would think a few things here. First, and foremost, I imagine the tyres you already have can be run tubeless. But your original post does not say if the tyres or the tubes were replaced 6 months ago. If just the tubes, I would suggest you might have radial tubes with bias ply tires. I'm not even sure that would be a problem but something obviously is wrong.
I would suggest further checking the inside of the rim, and tires, to make sure there is no rust or scaling on the inside of the tire, hiting the tube.
Last, did your installer use talcum powder when installing the tubes? If not I would have him redo and pour some talcum powder into the tire befopre reinstalling the tubes, if you plan to reuse them.

Thanks Mike and Nancy. Right back at ya!
I spent a few hours of if participating in a parade, transporting a 50 year active member of a local volunteer fire company. Sad though, I forgot my camera!

Good one Jaybird. I'd concur totally.

Lamar, great picture of you, Rita, and your Mom. It's easy to see that she was special. Thanks for posting .

LOL!

Just learned that Mr. Earl lost his Mom yesterday. Lamar was very close to his Mom, who was 91 years old, and provided for her for numerous years. This is a big loss for him and his entire family.
My condolences brother!

Yes, that's an Electra. No motor, Trans or Title. Three strikes and your out. MEanwhile a convertible Electra with factory air goes down the drain. Sum B___CH

It is not Scott's car. But looks just like it.

Another thing to look for is cracked wire insulation on the wire from the coil to the distributor. And inside the distributor too. But did you ever look at the running engine with the car in total darkness to see if the wires are arcing?

Can't agree more with NTX. One thing at a time, Otherwise you won't know what fixed it. I started my cold 56 for years from under the hood. I just looked at it as a way to show off the engine compartment.

It's a Devilbiss "Finish Line" gun. The box says 3 HP sprayer, 13 CFM. 23 lbs pressure at the gun produces 10 lbs at the cap.

Thanks Mr. Earl. I do appreciate your nomination. It was fun taking the pictures, and I hope to do it more in the future. If I can ever get to another show.

An interesting car. But is that side chrome right? Looks like the chrome from a 50-52 to me. Plus, how is it the body is so decent and the floors are shot, not to mention the rust on the dashboard.
Still, I'd be happy to have it.

Great! I'd like to know if it was removeable that way in the large body series.

A lot of 83 Riv owners are very satisfied with their cars. I hope you become one of them.
Good luck.
BTW, I'd suggest you tackle one car at a time. It gets depressing looking at a group of non running vehicles when all you want to do is drive.

Normally I just take pictures of the cars. But this time I tried to get pictures of all the owners/members with their car. I hope no one is offended and if they are, please let me know so I can take the picture down. But hopefully it will just be a chance to put a name with a face with a car. Lets see how it works out.

For 56 the Super is different. I suspect your's is different as well. Page 3/13 of my 56 manual shows the different measurements between the two tanks. The big difference is angle of the filler pipe as measured at the center of the inlet to the center of the hole where the filler pipe enters the tank. However, in both instances it shows the pipe entering the tank roughly in the middle of the tank.
I don't know what a cheap tank goes for but I still thing the gas tank renu process is well worth it.
