  1. Our Buick Club ran a Cruise-In a few weeks ago. We have a sponsor Buick dealer and the show was on his lot. We ran the event from 4 PM to 9 PM. I got there a bit early and parked my GS, top down, on the small strip of grass between the parking lot and the road. The dealer has a 92 Dodge Viper Prototype ( with only 7K on it, and he parked it out there too.

Around 7 PM or so, suddenly there is a lot of commotion and yelling, and I heard my name being called. I expected the worst, like someone had left the main road and crashed into my car, but instead, I see the automatic lawn sprinklers had come on and the GS and the Viper were getting soaked. Several participants jumped on the sprinkler heads to stem the flow but that just sent the water wider and higher and hardly helped. Sure wish I got a picture of that one.

  2. If you want rumble, then do some listening at Cruise In's. The Flowmaster 40's give a nice low end rumble, but they can resonate inside the car while under way. The walker mufflers sound pretty good at idle too, but unsure what they sound like underway. I have Turbo Mufflers on the GS. They are pretty nice at an idle and seem to fade away while underway. I can still hear them but they are not resonating inside the car.

The glasspacks used to be somewhat brash, in my opinion, and while loud, were not actually a good sounding muffler. Maybe they have changed over the years, but there are a lot of other options out there now, which may be better suited to your car.

  3. Are you looking at glasspacks for the sound, or the cost?

I had purchased a set of standard GM mufflers for my 56, which were modified buy welding on extensions so I could stick with the flanges. We even installed them with spring loaded bolts, like the current front wheel drive cars, and this worked great. I like my cars quiet on the open road, and throaty at idle. This accomplished my dual goal perfectly.

  4. The "Standard Catalogue of Buick", now in it's third edition, at least has a lot of detail on these year cars. Not only the available options, but their original costs as well. As for your specific questions, I see the sport steering wheel. ($31), six way powers drivers seat ( $151). What I don't see is the t top option, but I know these cars had t tops available. Then again, there's about a half page of information on options, in small type, so I could have just been overlooking it.

Congrats on a sweet car. Wish I had one like that. Although I would nix the WE4 GN application, in favor of a 70 Buick 350 with an overdrive, and rear axle upgrade to a low 3.__ gear set. One problem in NY is the requirement to have the catalytic converter on there, thus impacting true dual exhaust. But if I had enough to do all I wanted in the first place, I'd find a way to meet the letter of the law and stil have a nice set of dual exhaust on it.

Good luck with your car. Would love to see more pics

  5. Oooh... I wish I was there for that! Gorgeous cars set on lovely plot of land. Thank you so much for posting!!

There's even more, but I don't have pictures. The land used to be owned by a 1700 Land Baron, who built a huge mansion overlooking the river below. The river was dammed for a NYC drinking supply and now the mansion overlooks a hugh reservoir in the background. It's known as Lansing Manor, See the link below. http://http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~nyschoha/manorhousemarker.html

The house has been mostly restored, with period correct furnishings. And is open to the public for tours .

  6. This thread is intended to be a pictorial salute to BCA members with their cars. I'll open the thread with a picture of Bonnie Colone with her 55 Special ( posted with permission), taken at the Schoharie Valley Region AACA show. Hopefully we can see some similar pics from the National, and then keep the thread alive in the future, to put a name with a car.

  7. Thank goodness. When I saw the thread title I thought you were having more problems this year. You certainly deserve a break.

BTW: just make sure that Midas shop does double flares on the lines. I know, any good mechanic would stake their life on this. But one idiot at my local Midas shop tried to do single flares on my son's Toronado once, and I think it was just so they could "up the price" by making the job take twice as long.
