  1. Did the Super have a power seat as standard equipment in a convertible?

I can't tell you where the cylinder attaches but I was under the impression that there was a cylinder to move the seat forward and a spring to pull the seat backwards against the cylinder. And I thought the seat tracks didn't have the lock mechanism activated by the lever.

I have a question about how the front radio speaker mounts up under the dash. The original was removed long before we got the car and all that remains is one small bracket near the front under the dash panel, and there don't seem to be any other mounting points.

Does anyone out there have better experience with this? I believe I must be missing something.

The front speaker on the 69 is held in with one bracket which holds the magnet on the speaker and is bolted to the tab provided.

Do you have a picture of what you found in the car?

i thought driven class wasnt judged

Driven class started out as being  judged. There was an age requirement and the rule of driven the entire way to the meet, plus the allowance of some modifications such as radial tires and different headlights and the car being essentially intact.

Then the rules changed around 2015 to allowing cars to be not driven a certain percentage giving long distance travelers some leeway in case of unforseen circumstances. Then in 2017 the rules changed again to making the driven award an item for sale thru the registration process.  And lastly the rules were reverted to the first set at some point but I don't know when that happened except to say it was in place for Spokane in 2023.

I do believe in each rule situation the owner was asked to sign a certificate saying the vehicle met the qualifications. I was never sure what happened to those certificates.

  4. New will be difficult to find. Are you just looking to dress them up? Maybe look for some ceramic coating firms? Be careful taking them off.  I have heard there are dressings that can be put on them. Sort of a polish type of process. Check Eastwood Products for something like that.

My name is Rob Stannard and I just recently joined the AACA after being a car guy my life. I definitely should have done this years ago. I've owned several Buicks, including a 53 Roadmaster, 68 Skylark, 69 Skylark Custom, and 69 GS. I'm looking forward to interacting with everyone.

Welcome to this forum.  Nice accumulation.  Do you have any of them now?  Any plans for a new old one in the future?

  6. If possible, recreate the conditions when you have this problem, then in a safe place see if increasing the idle offsets the issue.

When the pump was replaced was the first pumps pulley reused? Was there a keyway to keep the pulley engaged on the shaft of the pump? A flat that needs a set screw to be tightened?  Or a flat spot on the pulley bore that is damaged and allowing the pulley to slip on the shaft?   Do you have a diameter measurement on that pulley?

  7. This is a 63 and it will be close to yours

In the close up below you can see the hood latch just to the drivers side of the mechanism. It curved down under the top grill chrome strip and is tucked above the grill itself

  8. As with any business entity, non-profit status or otherwise, survivability is rooted in the ability to give folks what they want.  Significant numbers of people show up at a National Meet and want, and expect to be, rewarded with an award for their efforts.

But all forms of judging are voluntarily entered.  There is nothing saying the people have to participate in judging.  Still, a significant number do.  So, if the Club does not provide that service, then it runs the risk of losing those who want or need to have it.

For those who want no part of being judged, there has been nothing that forces you to be judged.  Just like you consider not being judged to be fun, others consider judging to be fun.  This club is already situated to provide the best of both worlds to most of us then, just the way it currently exists. My thought, however, is that there are those would like to have an award or acknowledgement for their fine vehicle, but they do not fit into any existing class.  And I still think it would be advantageous for longevity of this Club to fill that niche.
