  1. I am in need of a Right Lower control arm for my 1989 Riviera. Same as Reatta I believe. The OEM part number is 22527858. None to be found. Can someone offer a suggestion? I would like to replace both sides with a new aftermarket. ebay and Amazon have new ones made by Mevotech which I know nothing about. Also that do not show the stabilizer round bar that is attached to the lower control arm that comes towards the front and affixes to the frame so I am not sure it will fit? Car is in the shop thanks to the pot hole situation here is Pa. so I want to move to get it back on the road ASAP. think I can come up with a good used one perhaps Jim Finn, just to get me back on the road but would like to replace both with new if I can locate. The part number that can be found on Amazon is Right MS20328 Left MS20329 Once again these number are Riviera, I think same for Reatta Thanks
  2. Try Ronnie's website. Just sent mine to United radio in East Syracuse NY $95.00 includes shipping each way UPS ground. Very fast turn around and got my unit back.
  3. It was just clicking when I attempted to play so I guess it was just the belt. They definitely returned my unit. I did not want to get into it and felt price was fair
  4. I used United Radio that was shown on Ronnie's website with great results. $97.50 and they paid UPS shipping both ways. Turn around time was very fast. I would highly recommend United Radio.
  5. ebay still seems to be a good source for the real stuff. I have accumulated a lot over the years since it is my preference for 89 Riviera and 91 Skylark. Just read ebay items carefully so you are getting the real stuff.
  6. Does GM make a factory rebuilt motor for a 1989? The part number I have in my old files is 12360021.from GM Parts direct but is NLA. I am guessing it may be necessary to go with a aftermarket rebuilder like Jasper? Thanks
  7. I changed mine at 125K. If it breaks the motor is finished.
  8. Wife wanted me to sell my beloved 1989 Riviera. I explained I owned the car longer than I knew her.. End of discussion!
  9. Do not forget brake hoses. They can collapse inside and prevent fluid from going back thus warping a rotor
  10. I talked to Peg today and was impressed. Not even going to look further>seems to be a FAIR price and she seems easy to work with.THANKS
  11. Thanks for the tips...Now considering shipping it to Pt. St. Lucie Fl. We need to decide...... Appreciate advise. (not a Reatta)
  12. Can someone recommend a good quality car carrier to move a vehicle between south eastern Pa to Waynesville NC. I am looking for a quality car carrier NOT the cheapest and NOT the most expensive carrier. open is OK. I will take a look at Ronnie site. Just looking for something reasonable with quality service. Thanks
  13. Watch for foaming and listen for a wining noise. This can happen when over filled... Good Luck
  14. I have been using Stabil for many years but a friend swears by a product called Startron. He claims it removes ethanol. I have always been happy with Stabil for long and short term storage but was wondering if anyone has any comments on Startron?
  15. thanks. he is great at responding to e mails within 24 to 48 hours. Hope he is enjoying himself
  16. Is Jim Finn on vacation ?
  17. Is leaking oil? I just had the bumper cover replaced along with all chrome and just 1 absorber. Vintage had all the items except the bumper cover that came out of Puerto Rico. All Parts were NOS. Mine was an 1989 Riviera
  18. Wish they could change my 2001 Cadillac from Analog to Digital. They lost a lot of OnStar customers because they could not or did not want to do it. Built in Blue tooth is best you can do with the old OnStar systems
  19. On my 1989 Riviera it is behind the glove box to the right side. Once again Jim Finn to the rescue. The item is NLA and the only dealer who had one on a parts locator wanted $175.00
  20. It helps when I forget the headlights are on. This is our only car without Twilight sentinels
  21. As a point of interest my 89 Riviera qualifies for classic car insurance in Pa. I looked at companies like Grundy and others. I wanted to insure for agreed value. My concerns were to limit my use of the car and most of all it would impact our umbrella policy dramatically. Thus I elected to stay with State Farm. While the car is very special to us I do not want to be wiped out financially. As info the young lady that ran the light was a young physician as a local hospital. She would have had a lot of earning power over the rest of her life and if it was my fault and she was seriously injured it could have been more than the car we would be worrying about. I have all my toys protected but suggest you always have yourself protected financially. $500K today is not always enough.
  22. Thought I would share my experience with State Farm and the Body shop in repairing my beloved 1989 Riviera. Back on May 9th a lady ran a Red light and I hit her broadside. fortunately I was going slow. My brakes were locked up as I slid into the side of her Junker. Police investigated and determined she was at fault. I have carried collision on this car since it was purchased new. I have been with state farm for over 35 years. 2 houses 4 cars and a umbrella police all with State Farm. Never filed a claim My choices were to put it under my State Farm policy or go after her GEICO insurance. Since it was not a chargeable accident I elected to use my policy and pay the $500 deductible. This will be returned to me once the insurance companies work it out. State farm had a adjuster out within 3 days and inspected the car and met with the body shop. The body shop started with the parts were discontinued. We needed both bumper guards and all the bumper strips. plus the bumper cover. Well I called Vintage auto from the Body shops office and gave them the part numbers. Vintage had sufficient inventory. The brand new bumper cover I found in Bayamon Puerto Rico. Shipping costs was $236.00. Once opened up it needed a bumper absorber it was leaking. Vintage had one in stock. Bottom line is the 89 Riviera is being repaired with 100% NOS parts. State Farm agreed to pay the $2400 repair and sent me a check for $1900 that was less $500 deductible. My agent wanted me to contact him if I do not receive it in about 3 months. Just wanted to share my experience and am grateful for Vintage and Parts voice. My feeling is that GEICO may have just totaled the car or insisted on used parts
  23. I had a similar problem with the Right door on my 89 Riviera. I took a can of WD40 and used about half a can spraying the latch with the Red extension trying to get a lot of spray inside the door. Well I must of hit the correct spot. The problem was corrected and that was several years ago. The latch NOT the handle. Worth a shot.
  24. I had a bad ground cable on my 89 Riviera and the electrical problems were unbelievable. After replacing a bunch of parts that were not defective I took the car to a expert who started at the beginning THE BATTERY and found the problem. He cleaned both cables but I decided to have them both replaced. We used OEM cables. The Positive was a bit shorter but worked fine. Now I have some spare parts. Thank you for posting your solution.
  25. I used all AC Delco parts. The compressor has a Lifetime guarantee.
